You can ask the same question about any registrar and get the same responses. There are people unhappy with every registrar and unhappy people are more likely to speak out against what they're unhappy about (as opposed to the people who are happy).

The sad thing is that with domains if something goes wrong, you lose a part of your business which can cost people a lot of money and once they lose it the entity who seems to be at fault takes the fall and they lose their trust.

I've been content with GoDaddy but I've only been with them for a few months (since December 2007) but I've done transfers in and out with no issues.

Compared to other registrars, I can check the availability of a name and chances are it will still be available (though any registrar) a few days later (I've lost one or two waiting, but they were registered by someone else at a different registrar). I haven't seen any proof of "domain front-running" or cybersquatting from GoDaddy like we've seen obvious accounts for though other registrars.

Also, this forum is run by someone from GoDaddy (not a peon / pencilpusher, either).

The problem with Godaddy is their corporate counsel, Christine Jones.

I've been with them for about 5 years now, and had been with others as well. I like go daddy the best, but I'm sure if I had problems they would be less then great. But godaddy got good pricing, you can always find codes and easy to use interface.

But I don't have hosting with them, so if your pretty sure you are not going to have problems. And if you do you deal with them hands on, and don't want hosting with them, then godaddy is one of the best out here.

See I'm after the best pricing, and godday got great pricing and that means less customer service. If you want customer service, then you should look else where then. I still got a account with hostway, they are a good middle ground one. Like my one domain expired 6 days before, and hostway just left me renew it at the normal price. I'm sure godaddy would charge, the high fee so I just don't let them expire with godaddy.

Just don't move trademarks or other obvious problem names there and you will be fine.

I have 95% of my portfolio with GoDaddy and have never had a problem. The Account Exec is willing to help in any way possible and has fixed things promptly that I've managed to stuff up (once by physically going and talking to the tech guys herself).

The renewal prices have been great.

Not sure how many names you need to have an account exec, but it definitely makes easy work of some tasks. I was dubious and a little "wary" at first, but a few years down the track, have gradually migrated nearly everything in their direction, on the back of an excellent service record by the person looking after the account.

Sure, if you don't care about customer service or never being able to transfer your domains out, go with GoDaddy.

I've transferred a few out (and several in) and I've had no issues.

I have around 80% of my domains with them, and i've had no problem.
have a godaddy hosting account there too, but i mainly use it for minisites and ftp, so cant give an idea on how good it is at that. but overall, ima happy customer.
Of course, if you bring in tm domains, it might be trouble as any reputable registrar will and should have a problem with that.
