Always wondered if it is ok to own domains like the ones that can relate to government?

Government.net
governor.org
Senate.net
Police.org
LAFirefighters.com
army.net

I do not own any of the domains above, was just looking for more information about domaining

I'm sure there are disclaimers that might need to accompany developed web sites on such domains. Owning the domains is just fine.

most seem perfectly fine. But as acro pointed out, there are some that may be limited to those special positions (i.e., you have to be a realtor to use the word realtor in your domain).
