A question that has plagued me recently.

Given that potentially I could be away from domaining for 4 months, I have been trying to find 'domain positions'.

Everyone likes to get a good deal, simple as. My question is: are there any more good deals to have?

Everyone is out to make money, and in the past I am sure quite a few have bought great domains off people who have not fully appreciated the value of their domain.

In that respect money is there for the taking.

Recently I have contacted quite a few people to try and purchase domains, and I have had absolutely no success.

My question is are all the good domains owned by companies/end users, or individuals who know and appreciate their value?
In terms of a domain investor is it down to simply buying from resellers, and reselling for more/selling to endusers?

Have you gotten any great deals recently, and if so what/how much?
Cheers

Yes is possible buy good domains cheap or for reg fee.
But you need to spend time for research...because my time is money I prefer buy them in the aftermarket for the right price.

Money come and go...TIME NOT!

4 days ago I've buyed an LLL.net for $300 via mail.

I think so... I was looking at the Feb 26 Sedo "no reserve" auction and there is some great names "dangerous.com" and "deposits.com" stand out for me.

I agree with trader in that the short answer is a big, fat NO... However, if it's ever gonna happen, it's going to be in an economy like we're in right now. There are definitely domainers out there with some decent domains that are being choked financially and are in a position where they have to dump some domains for less than they are worth just to pay their bills. Other than domains being sold out of desperation, I believe the days of you getting a quality domain for little cash are long over.

There has never been a better time, look at the economy. It has filtered to domains.

However people aren't going to accept joke offers.

Honestly,

I am having a blast.

Read the news and play into the medias hands, in regards to new regs.

And if there is a name you want, now is perhaps the best time ever to make an offer - especially to a non-traditional domainer.

Thanks for the responses.

I was rather referring to buying great domains for cheap off their original owners: not hand regs.

Also I dont think an LLL.net for $300 is that good a deal. Maybe for a triple premium.
Cheers

On the subject of buying domains from their original owners "cheap" it depends how desperate they are to sell. Also, your definition of "cheap" and theirs might differ.

$300 for a triple premium LLL.net? I just turned down a $4,500 offer for one, so again - one's definition of "cheap" differs.

any clown who is selling LLL.net's for $300 obviously doesn't know squat about domain values.

or they must have been very desperate for cash.

There are always some nice deals out there but just like Carter said if you actively go searching for cheap names you really need to invest a lot of time in that process.

And $300 for any LLL.net is a steal. To be honest GUA your comment about the LLL.net makes me wonder what is cheap in your opinion?

Business.com for $1,000?

Another reason to be picky about what you purchase. I am not saying you can't find good deals, but to expect great letters for under $1k is overly optimistic.

There are still many good domain names out there for cheap. Even 10 dollar domains from Go Daddy. I picked up marketmixup.com and in 3 months my rankings are 564K with alexa. Not to say Alexa is completely accurate, but just saying.... Be creative and keep searching. There's still plenty out there.

That's true. With the recession going on... many are just forgetting about their domain names and letting them expire. They don't even have the time or money to auction them. It's horrible, but good for those in need of GREAT DOMAIN NAMES.

you need to do your homework before going out and registering domains, most of the time domain is cheap for a reason.

My point is.. yes maybe most of the time a domain is cheap for a reason, but is there a time when a domain is cheap: an absolute bargain for no reason other than an unknowledgable seller?

Working hard is nothing to do with getting domains cheap. Unless you are refferring to sitting on your webmail panel sending loads of emails...
