The simple answer from my perspective is a definitive yes. It is too late for photographers to pick up the keyword, seriously primo, photography terms.
What I mean is this; as someone who is a serious photographer and deep into photography I did search for those premium photography terms such as 'macro', 'micro', 'wedding', 'pet' and so on, plus the obvious ones like 'landscape', 'medical', 'night'.
The issue here is that the field of photography (photography terms) is actually quite narrow within itself. A person can only come up with so many exact keyword search terms before they exhaust the list. One could quite possibly start perusing the other languages for those keywords. So that pretty much leaves the geo and personal name scene. Some geo's would be gems but still...would they be heavily searched for in terms of keyword+photography? Doubtful. Plus, those that are budding or professional photographers may opt for photography or end up going with .gallery or .studio or .art and any number of the new gTLD's.
Okay, I gave you the short answer and the long answer. But I really question the size of the market in terms of some of these gTLD's. As much as I do like photography as a subject and a past time, I do not see the depth of this extension like I see in others. This may be one of those cases where everything was laying on top of the surface and out in the open and therefore already picked up. Even with those "precious" keywords of poker, sex, casino, and so on I have to wonder...is there really such a thing as casino photography?
