Unlikely a bubble but very likely a volatile and cyclical commodity.
Much like the stockmarket certain stocks/sectors fall in and out of favor at a whim.
Greed-Hope-Fear cycle controls most mob action.
Warren Buffet does not trade in and out but buys under-valued/under-appreciated companies.
.IN and even .CO.IN are subject to 'herd' mentality although the fundamentals are steadily building.
.CN is a 'penny stock' and engenders a lottery ticket mentality not to mention its use for spam and cybersquatting: http://www.dnforum.com/f77/cybersquatting-escalates-asia-thread-253877.html
A contrarian position can be lonely.
Other thoughts?

I don't think that these extensions are bubbles. It is only the awareness that matters here.

The meagre numbers of domainers from India might have overlooked the investment opportunity in LLL.in, LLL.co.in and NNN.co.in. Or only invested a part of their investment in them.

There is also a lack of awareness in a vast majority of business community about the power of internet in general and domains in particular. But, i am sure when that level of awareness increases it's going to be very good for the early domain investors. How many years it will take? Can't answer, Wait and Watch.

I don't really think that .in names are bubbles. You have to remember that .cn names were offered at very very cheap prices. You yourself offer them at $0.39 - a rate at which I can afford to reg thousands and thousands of names. The .in names are expensive...$13.99 isn't exactly cheap change, especially when you're trying to pick up thousands. I've always been surprised, but many names that are available in most extensions (GOOD extensions like .org/.net/.info) are sometimes gone in .cn. While it is a weird phenomenon, it is not entirely baseless...the .cn TLD is amazingly cheap in its first year of registration.

Domaining is picking up quite quickly in India. In fact, two of the mods here are Indians. I'm an Indian myself. You have to bear in mind that Indians make one of the largest percentage of tech job holders in the world, and many of Silicon Valleys top companies were founded by Indians.

I have been monitoring LLL.in for about nine months, and have not seen a net increase in unregistered LLL.in. Since February, registrations have led to a net decrease of approximately three per day. There was a large surge in registrations during late March.

It'll be interesting to see how the upcoming sale on .in and .co.in affect LLL.in registrations. They will be less than $5 for the first year with directi registrars. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a buyout of LLL.in during the sixty-day-plus sale. Of course, after a year and the price increase, I suspect there will be many drops.

Sure thing! People (including me) where buying LLL.us last November-December paying $110-$120 for poor letters like xzq.us. How much are you ready to pay for xzq.us today? $50 -$60?
All lll type names are becoming bubles sooner or later. The difference is only a timeframe and size of bubble... Exceptions? Sure.... lll.com and lll.net

btw, did anyone get the news that the .in registry is going to decrease the registration prices to $4? That would probably clean out the LLL.in names, and see a huge drop in quality LLL.co.in names available. Of course more than half of these will drop next year when renewals come up, but the ones already holding good LLL.in names should see a decent profit.

LLL.us names are a good example. Even though they've all been regged out, prices have been very stagnant. Only LLL.com names have continued to increase in value at an amazing pace (just check out the valuation chart at 3character.com)

not a bubble, but a sound investment. India has one of the largest english speaking population in the world, but the internet population is just picking up and the domainers are still fewer. There is lot of scope for investment in .in names. Apart from India, this great extension can stand for internet, information, international, etc., and is also free to be owned by anyone in the world.
