I mean they don't catch anything unless it is some ridiculous name nobody wants.
They have become worse than godaddy.
What is going on?

I haven't used them for a while. For .ca they traditionally have been good. I think they still are.

I don't buy .ca so I wouldn't know. I sure know that they don't even try to catch .info .biz and .us anymore.

Sure Pool is not what is was many years ago, but I have to say I'm grateful for the names I won back in the day, They were the first to go to the auction format (which I hated at the time) but Snapnames was losing a lot of backorders to underhanded companies like BuyDomains who were paying Registrars to grab domains exclusively for them, so here comes Pool to pick up the slack and leveled out the playing field.

Not sure what the future holds for them, but whatever it is I wish them well.

Pool caught a domain for me just over 2 months ago and won it in the after-auction, never sent me login info at the registrar that caught it, and is ignoring all emails.

I will be filing a chargeback against them this week on the domain.

Some of the partner registrars are shit. But I find it more likely that E-mail is spamtrapped somewhere, rather than Pool ignoring you.

Has the whois been updated to your details ?
Then you could try using the password recovery available from the registrar website (if available) to obtain the login information.

It's a game of gambling. The end of Digital Archery proves that. There is no guarantee that dropcatcher A will beat B all the time. There are a couple of second tier dropcatchers that beat SnapNames and Pool.

Theo Pool gets beaten even by APIs and hand registrations.

As Raider said, I'm grateful for Pool catches of the past but currently it's not consistent. Then again, no service is.

They come and go, some even come back...you just have to come and go with them.

Like Raider and Acro, I did get wonderful domains at Pool years ago. Resold some of the domains (caught for a low cost)
for thousand$. The good old days for them ...

They used to be good, but that was before Snapnames entered the market.

Godaddy is said to be often beaten by handreggers but I think you have to place backorders by a certain deadline or they won't even attempt to catch the names.
Perhaps that also applies to Pool.

I order domains a month before and godaddy doesn't even attemt to reg.
Handreggers at godaddy get the domains easily.
