Depends on the words.

ToysShop.com <- incorrect, we say toy shop
pantsShop.com < - correct
SocksShop.com < - correct

You might want to check with the normal tools:

https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal?defaultView=2

It depends.

ToyShop sounds better than ToysShop
PantsShop sounds better than PantShop

I'd take the keyword to Google and see which pulls higher numbers with the 's' or without the 's'.

Well, it's correct. However it does sound and look a bit odd. One would probably say "Toy Store" or "Pants Store."

Keep in mind that "pants" or "socks" are just about always plural when you speak about them so that's fine.

ToysShop doesn't really come off well since it is usually described as singular when you talk about it. "Toy Store" would be the best use.

Oopps, I see South beat me to it.

i don't think that "Shop" or "store" domains depends to Search Volume. Ex: LaptopsShop.com, Sold for 3000 USD, but The volume Exact search is just : 590/Mo.
About my domain , the Singel word+Shop is already taken of course, so i hesitate about getting the plural.
wait for more help.. Thanks !

other help : which is the best : Store or Shop ??

Don't get toysshop unless you have a very good idea. I have never heard of it as being referred to as a "toy shop" - it's always a "toy store".

Go with SocksShop - its a good niche for younger girls (pre teen, teenagers, and even the 20-something crowd (unless my sister, my wife (both in their mid 30s) - and my wife's two sisters (low 20s and late 20s) are all wrong (they all LOVE socks).

PantsShop - eh. It's OK but you should go with professional men - suit pants, dress pants, khakis, etc..

All those words were just EXAMPLES, the important for me is about the "S", and the STORE or SHOP, too.

nobody says "ToysShop PantsShop or SocksShop"

as these things are mainly purchased in a clothing store or toy store.

a shop is where products are made, manufactured, repaired or altered
a store is the retail "point of sale"

To answer one point that is being debated

Shop is more commonly used in the UK than store, in almost all circumstances, I believe Store is perferred in the US.

The plural does affect it in many cases, take the advice and chqeck the keyword tool to see what sort of effect it has on the keyword in question. Without know the specifics nobody can tell you more than this IMHO.

Ok, The "Shop" get more searches that "Store".. And the single word get more searches than the plural of course.

Most of the time it would be fine with no S and I think that makes a better domain:

Am I correct in saying that North America is the only place where store is used in preference to shop?

Speaking from a US perspective.

Most of the time, I would say yes. But again, it depends on the application.

Shop would infer a place where you take something to get repaired (bike shop, car shop, etc), store would suggest somewhere you were going to buy something.

Yep, very different US and UK usage. E.g. candy store in the US is a sweet shop in the UK. Body shop in the US is an auto bodywork repair business. In the UK body shop sells perfumes and soaps.

I've often thought it would be useful to put together a domainer's glossary showing US/UK language differences.

When I lived in Hong Kong, they have a Chinese word for neighbourhood grocery stores which was transliterated from the English word "store". And as a British colony, you could guess that it was borrowed from ... Britain.

It would be very difficult to compile because of the differences in meanings and use within countries and and regions
For example there are words that are used in one city that mean something completely different in another city within the same country
