Is it just me or is a third of the web on a rolling blackout this morning.

I have been having problems accessing many sites but then 30 minutes later they are up and some others seem to be down.

Everything is fine here. Just that your power went out doesn't mean the end of the world. :D

LOL! The Internet is a network of networks, so almost all downtimes are local; it's just a matter of how local they are. Say it may be your ISP, or that of their upstream provider; or it could be one of the North American nodes, etc. But then there are always alternative routes to get to the same place. I'd say the inability to connect to the rest of the world usually lies in very localized problem, or you'll hear it in the news. ;)

I'm losing about 75% of sites I normally go to, off and on for the last 2 hours.

Every month on the 13th they stop the internet for maintenance. They do a backup, fix broken links and check the quality of the content :D

Seriously though, there have been several attacks on the root-servers recently, as well as major nameservers. I've also been experiencing intermittent access to some sites, including DNF.

Well, somebody needs to poke a stick in that puppy and see if they can break something loose.

I think we should hire somebody to keep an eye on things..somebody with the following qualifications:

1) familiar with the inner workings of the internet

2) Unemployed

3) No prospects

Al Gore? He's available isn't he? :D

Al's busy being our elected President, not that there's anything to worry about.

You all disconnected your computers from the net while they blew the air through to force the dust out, right?
