I have seen more and more lll.com and nnn.com going on the market with not that many buyers out there buying them, is lll.com priced to high?

I think we're going to see a bit of a speculative-slow-down. Names that make $ will continue to sell, but speculative groups like non-traffic/non-premium lll.com's will stagnate for a bit.

Yes. Most LLL.com sales are between domainers, not end-users.
Do I hear "bubble" ?

There has definitely been a slowdown in January compared with the last 9 months, but I wouldn't necessarily call two weeks of stagnation a meltdown quite yet.

I disagree. Those that are smart, don't put an LLL .com on the market right now.
In a year, the median price will cross the $xx,xxx mark regardless of letters.

Hello All,

Do be aware that some of the folks who might agree with this thread's premise are LLL.com bargain hunters who know the value and love to buy at a perceived discount.

It could be that price growth per month for LLL.com's might slow (from its staggering 8%-10% a month price growth over the last 4 months), but I don't see prices falling down. We may instead be looking at price GROWTH of lower X% a month instead for a short trend, as the market waves a little bit. LLL.com domains have their spells of red hot growth, but even over slower times they've shown price growth month over month, even when they are not the flavor of the month.

There have been several significant LLL.com price growth periods (similar to the last few months) over the years. Following those times, LLL.com's GREW in value at comparitively lower rates and prepared for the next price growth cycle.

When prices do rise significantly in LLL.com domains, there have always been those who have argued that they are on a bubble. History thus far shows otherwise, and the charts and other indicators still point rather strongly to continued price growth in both the short and long term for LLL.com domains.

I just don't see the concern here.

- zesty

BTW, Acroplex's assertions are consistent with my research. All arrows are pointing toward $10k minimum wholesale value (for any LLL.com combo) in the not too distant future.

I think in the long-term, LLL.com's will continue to rise in value, even the non-premium ones. As of right now, I think we will see an ongoing rise of LLLL.com value. I think that those sitting on the premium ones, should want to hold on them for a while longer, as the LLLL.com market is still on it's way up. . My 2 cents though, of course I might be wrong.

I agree here. Part of the reason is because while pro domainers continue to be what seems as years ahead of the game, the newbies and others that are slowly but finally coming into the industry are going to hear from one "expert" blogger or seller that these domains are high valued even without traffic or premium goodness. Thus creating a never ending flow of buyers, who may just be naive about it.

The domain industry has definitely grown like a madhouse over the last 2 years, more so than ever before. Are we at a peak? I really don't think so yet. Will there be a bubble burst? Tough to say. Will it slow down? I think the only things that will slow down are the really high prices some people are paying for non-premium/traffic domains. But I don't see any drop in the future in terms of selling useless domains that "just sound good" or "have great POTENTIAL" because I still see people buying fully developed websites that are not worth more than $20 being sold for $100's or sometimes in the $1k-$10k range.

Right now it's all speculative because there really isn't much to compare it to. The slowdown that the industry had when the dotcom bubble burst wasn't normal, because the industry was so small and immature. Now that the industry is still in it's growing up stages I really believe that the industry will reach it's peak in 2010 (only 2 years away!), or better for all of us, that it never peaks, but just finds a common leveled out zone that keeps things in demand, keeps prices high for when we sell, but low enough for us to buy.

The 'manufacturers' aka the guys and girls who find the domains and buy them for no more than a <$10 reg fee, and then flip it on the wholesale market (to other domainers, ebay, forums, auctions).

1. December/January are historicaly the most slow months of the year
2. Some of us went South for vacation to spend their $$ earned in 2007
3. Some of us are shocked after receiving December credit card bills and do not know where to get the money to pay now.

Yes, lll.com priced too high and there is a recent separate thread explaining why.

Cheers,

Agree with the vacation part. I'm still wondering where all the $$$ went in the last 20 days. Maybe it was the martinis by the poolside..

Yeah
LLL dot coms are way overpriced
How could the price possibly go any higher?
End users don't want them
They are just a passing fashion and demand will soon dry up
People much prefer LLLL dot com because there is a choice of 456,976
of them
Whereas the choice of LLL is limited to 17,576 and even some of them may not be for sale for some obscure reason
