Newbie Question:
A two word .com generic is available with a hyphen between the two words. It is also available as a .net and as a .org without the hyphen.

Word1-Word2.com
Word1Word2.net
Word1Word2.org

At $8 a pop I think I'm going to get all three. But in general, which is preferrable?
thanks

It depends what you want to do with the domain name.

I wanted the city .com (price was "how about $20,000)
CityCountry .com was registered so I registered City-Country.com

It now ranks in position one and two for a google.com.pe search on the City out of 1,670,000

I can live with that although I would of course like either the CityCountry .com or just the City .com
