I have a .it domain that says it is renewed in my control panel with the registrar.
However, the .it registry says that it expired 7 days ago and it is in 'Grace Period'.
Is that the normal process?
When is a .it domain renewed?

I presume that the registrar failed to renew with the registry. Could be a glitch in their system. Contact your registrar without delay.

it is registered with eurodns.
Customer service told me a couple of days ago that this was the normal process.

Does this sound right? I don't have many .it domains and never watched the renewal process before.

Is the name resolving ?
I would also double-check with the registry.

yes, the domain is still resolving..

I called the nic.it - the .it registry this morning and they said that all domains go into a 15 day grace-period even if the renewal was paid for. After the 15 days the domain goes back to active if it was renewed or to 'No Provider' status if it wasn't renewed. 'No Provider' Status lasts for at least 60 days before the domain is deleted, so I think I am safe.

Thanks.

Strange, I didn't know that. Keep an eye on it though and let us know if it goes back to normal.
In the past I have had an issue with a .it too. The registrar didn't renew the name so it went to no-provider status, the registry even sent me a registered letter to notify me. At least there is a safety net.

Now most registrars for European ccTLDs tend to renew automatically and they bill you later. Eurodns is a bit different. For example if you have .at (Austria) domains and don't renew at least 7 days before expiry, they will send a delete request to the registry in anticipation so you don't get billed for unwanted renewal, but you can still renew and within those 7 days. Did you renew just a few days before expiry by any chance ?

That`s correct.
