Its always made me sick to see celebrities touting their tea cup chihuahuas and toy poodles more as accessories to their latest purse as opposed to a real dog.
I've always said I wanted to see someone of that level of fame to get a REAL dog. A shepherd, a doberman, a rottie. So what does Eva Mendes have?
Not some toy poodle, not some greyhound (which would still be more impressive than the accessories), not even a German shepherd (which would be soft compared ot what she has).
She has a working line malinois.

6th picture down even shows the love that the dog has for her - kissing her with his ears all the way back (commonly known in the breed as a "seal head" and it shows a high level of affection (not agression / defensiveness like many other breeds)).
