Hi,
My name is Tim Beckham, and I just joined DNForum. My wife, Polly, and I are retired and have a portfolio of domain names that I acquired long ago, when high quality domains were still available. At this point we have about 200 domains of high to moderate quality, and I am trying to educate myself on how to either sell the names or monetize them to produce maximum income.
Besides monetizing domains, I would also like to develop domains that reflect my wife's and my personal interests. An example of such a domain is our website, http://www.energy.org. We are both quite concerned regarding the looming energy issues that face the globe, particularly the generation of greenhouse gases and the attendant problem of global warming. If you go to energy.org, you will see mostly information on energy sources and uses, but that is going to gradually be replaced, as we shift to an emphasis on energy in the context of global climate change. Ultimately, I want to develop a free-to-the-public, online school on energy and climate.
Other domains we have include:
fiberoptics.com, net, org
railing.com, net, org
railings.com, net, org
manufacturers.com, net, org
casework.com, net, org
chemicals.org
ironwork.com
freight.net, org
airplanes.org
cellular.org
doors.net
abrasives.net
orchestras.com
sculpture.com
publicart.com
and on and on in a similar vein. Not all our domains are of such high quality, but all are generic and thus mnemonic, with considerable branding potential.
That's about it for now. I can see from the size of this site and the scope of issues with which I must become familiar that I have a lot of work and learning ahead of me.
