After the recent l-l-l buyout, the prices should have technically jumped. I had a chance to buy k-k-k.com for $500 a couple of days ago, and thought it was a COMPLETE STEAL...but I just jumped on google real quick and really really hesitated, eventually giving up the idea.

K-K-K -- horribly brandable in the US--almost impossible to have a good 3 word combination of Ks.

99% of references online go to Ku Klux Klan.

Enduser potential--almost none--unless it's for the "KKK". Their membership is somewhere around 5000 in the US...which is minimal, and most online references are simply history of the group.

Decent type in value--200 visitors a day--but....what sort of keyword would you use :-\

And...I'm not all that sure you wouldn't get placed on an FBI "watching list" simply because there aren't really any other uses for the domain than those related to the group.

I think any other same letter L-L-L.com will easily outdo this one at least 5-fold the posted value. Even Q-Q-Q.com, J-J-J.com, or Y-Y-Y.com

Please post your thought and comments, and possible value predictions for this domain.

Not worth it at all. Unless you develop it with some history about the abolition and the civil war and the KKK, etc, I don't think anybody would want to touch this name. L-L-L.coms are primarily end user names, and as you mentioned, end users for this name are almost impossible to find other than the KKK itself.

Agree I would not touch it, except for a site making fun of the kkk, like a parody of them or something but hard to sell to anyone.

It's quite old and has good links, which is great for SEO.
I guess it's worth $xxx

'SS' has many other uses compared to the other one. Plus the SS of WW2 doesn't exist anymore (think WW2 is right).

Its all about intent.

The domain has value as it appears based purely on three repeating characters.

In the states, yes we would think negatively about this. But who owns the domain jew.com? Is this a hate site? No. Nazi.com? Not sure if it even exist.

Just using these as an example.

I think one of the students that just died in the beach housefire was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa.

It is what we make of it. To other nations, it probably doesn't mean a thing other than three letters.

Thanks for all your opinions guys, looked like I made a smart choice not to buy it...btw...just to let you all know...the domain sold for $1,000 24 hours after I could buy it for $500.

I understand about other country uses, as I mentioned in the first post, but I still think it's awful. The memorability is great, but every single (relatively) reference of k-k-k is to the group, and I don't know what sort of visibility you could possible get among results like those. Most people visiting the site are looking for we know what...so the only way out is to develop and promote--however, you can do that with any decent 5 letter domain and will probably end up standing out more and having a better audience.

I probably could risk to resell it on SEDO and I'm sure somebody would of picked it up for as much as low x,xxx just because of the recent prices on l-l-l domains, but I don't think it's worth the risk of being stuck with a domain that has practically no enduser value.

Any opinions on other same letter L-L-Ls? I personally think the minimum wholesale is at least 2.5k -- great brandability, memorability, and no references to weird groups :) Even domains like Q-Q-Q can simply stand for Quality Quality Quality to represent a great website.

At the moment only premium l-l-l.coms have value, k-k-k.com I think is worth low $xxx at the moment.

I would've taken it for 0.5K and held on to it for a few more years.

Just my 2 cents.

where did it sell dude?
also, you probably did right, although it's only 1 of a set of 26 same L-L-L combos, i wouldn't have touched either. too much baggage with those letters and nasty connotations.
sure other companies use those letters but would you want your vehicle signwritten with those letters?

incidentally signwritten.com is for sale

I dont think its unreasonable to see any L-L-L.com being worth 5%-10% of the LLL.com version in a rather short amount of time. I think 5% is what it should be worth minimum to the LLL.com holder to corner the market. If someone owns LLL.com and is looking to sell to an end user for 50k, why wouldnt he be buying the L-L-L.com for 5% of the reseller price (maybe around 500 bucks) to avoid that end user that finally came along with deep pockets is not going to just offer 5k to the guy owning L-L-L.com? Unfortunately all the L-L-L.com where already taken to my LLL.coms but I will try to buy those.
