Got my October 2008 copy in the mail yesterday and there was a one page profile of Kevin Ham as a leader in technology. It mentions his domain portfolio and association with Cameroon, and his future plans for his company.

Tried to find it online but couldn't, the magazine's website is at:

If we have a BC domainer get together we should do it at Reinvent headquarters. I would love to see their set-up!

Also, a nice write up on DNJ.

http://dnjournal.com/lowdown.htm

Even with all of his money and success, Kevin is still trying to improve himself.
Presently, he is stuck away at Harvard Business School learning the newest, cutting edge
business knowledge.

I am conflicted on him personally.

If I am looking at him in a business light I would say a great business man or at least good business moves.

If I look at him personally I may have to say Hypocrite.

Here is why, as a business man he made " moves " which paid off and took forward thinking. As a person and from what I simply read he says one thing and yet acts differently. In my opinion the worst thing he could have done is say he was a christian. Why, well christians do not squat or steal traffic ( .cm ). This to me is a sticking point on the man himself. And as far as I know christian do not use technicalities to justify things, or shouldnt any ways. The .cm move was clearly unethicalin the eyes of a christian. While the .cm extension represents a country it was not used for this purpose. Kevin Ham used the misspelling of others to redirect to parked pages and thus profit. To me this is not a grey area based on his use. In saying that his money machine was not the .cm and so therefore stating publicly you are a christian and using platforms to thank God yet become so petty to imo " steal " traffic to gain is boggling to me.

My opinion may not be popular as most here do not care about it and would call it a good " move " but he laid himself out there to be called a hypocrite.

Furthermore I realized his company buys adult type names to " spare " users from adult content on the internet. Heroic sure, logical, not so much. I have now recently noticed his " adult " type names no long bring up nothing but now promote " adult " medicines such as viagra, harder erections etc. Which is fine, use them but there has clearly been a shift which imo again butts the christian aspect of his profile. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to know good God fearing christians do not type in erections.com to get " Big hard erections " in order to please their wife. To go on his company as far I see does own clearly tm infringing names, sometimes it is clear to see other times they deny it and say a customer reg'd it and is using HF and thus not them, sure. Vertical Axis owned a CNN reporters name, it went private but its not you and stayed at HF lol

Sorry for the rant but good business mind, absolutely. Good " christian ", I just look at the actions. Not to say christians don't do things that are unethical. That isnt the point, the point is being proud of them, publicly!

Let alone that the amazing portfolio of religion related domains that he owns, that are SO important for him are not developed even after 3+ years, but are making tons of money in parking, perfectly optimized at the best paying companies..

I wonder myself what he means by christian..
Catholic
Pentecostal
Baptist
Methodist
etc etc etc

The fact he likes/buys religious names yet hasnt developed them but rather parks them doesn't bother really. Alot of " christians " profit from christian merchandising and so we would have to throw them all out.

However unless it is some small sect of christianity I havent heard of the basic fundamentals should prevail I would imagine. Not that one needs any religion to know certain things are unethical or in a christians mind set a sin. Unless this is a form of christianity that supports domainers who tithe to them from the profits of unethical behavior such as tm's, stealing traffic and men who want bigger harder erections.

I also think he is a great businessman and his famous speech on the importance of the family etc was very moving and thought provoking.

I have always felt it was a shame that his large collection of Christian domains and domains with potential for supporting Christianity seem to be on PPC rather than actually helping Christians with their faith and non-Christians to meet Jesus.

With a $70,000,000 annual income, surely $200,000 or so could be spent on putting useful content on these domains and/or linking to good Christian websites. This would further the kingdom of God much more than selling consumer items and services to Christians.

Maybe he has already started to put Christian content on these domains?

A lot of un-christian comments???

I was taught not to judge other people.

We probably know very little about all of the great things 'others' do.
Nor, do we know one's long term plans.

I have never personally met nor directly communicated with him
but I'm positive his moral character is a lot higher than it is being betray'd in this thread.

Frankly, who cares? Religion has always been about exercising power and control over the masses. I nearly always bust my sides when Bush starts banging on about religious fundamentalism. Frankly, there is more religious fundamentalism in the US than the rest of the World combined, and I have worked in a number of Islamic countries.

I agree. Usually people including me tend to highlight the few imperfections of another person.

He may not have developed some good Christian domains, but he has already built a site for the best Christian domain - www.god.com

Besides, his company is still fairly young, so it will take time to develop all his good domains.

I am not doubting him being a good person in general. When one holds themself out as X and then does X it opens you up to judgement.

Do I believe he is not a christian, no of course not, do I believe he is not going to heaven, no dont doubt that either. What my point reverts back to is actions. To me a mans character is best seen by them. Saying one thing and doing another... which again he opened himself up to. Lets say he never mentioned being a christian ( whatever that means to him ) and he was simply a domainer for lack of a better term. Fine, great business man not a question, had foresight, made good buys, choices etc. :)

I realize christians do wrong daily, he is no better or lessor than anyone, not saying he is. Just looking at the bigger picture.

That was clever and a bit slick. I bet it did, crime...eeerrr I mean unethical behavior pays ;)

It sure put the extension on the map and should prove to generate more revenue now for them via registrations. Haven't looked at what the process is or what they held back and how it is now being used.
