Although I personally am not into this extension, I did come across several available names this morning that I would deem top tier:

Bike.kids.us
Dinosaur(s).kids.us
Power.kids.us
Super.kids.us
Dot.kids.us
Weather.kids.us

These three are killers:

Arcade.kids.us
Ed.kids.us (as in education)
Spy.kids.us (as in... well, you know...)

Enjoy! DNF$ welcome.

There are an enormous number of great keywords available in kids.us including major State names that haven't even been regged yet. However, at a cost of about $350 EVERY YEAR (reg fee + content renewal fee) these domains only make sense for serious developers (primarily major corporations looking at long term branding) IMO. I think any buyers purchasing these domains with the idea they can turn these domains for a quick profit are playing a losing game.

To put it into perspective, for that same $350 you could register 70 DOMAINS in the parent .US extension (that is free of all of the retsrictions on kids.us, including not being able to link to anything outside the sub-domain)! Odds are if you are a reseller you would make a dramatically higher profit doing that.

I do hope that kids.us is a major success though. It serves a great purpose for kids and if it catches on it should light a real fire under the .US extension which I think remains an excellent long term investment.

Agreed. I bought three names for the sole purpose of making it easier for corporations to promote their brand, and in turn promote "kids content" via the kids.us namespace.

I'm hoping to hook up with a major airline to promote: Fly.kids.us

After 9/11, everyone is on edge when they fly, especially children. What a better way to educate them on the positive aspects of flying. The nice thing about this is the parents don't have to worry about a child getting "pushed" to an xxx site. Let 'em surf, I say!! Corporations will like that too, because they will come across as "good neighbors" to parents. Another plus in the cap for kids.us...

I agree with both of you... cost of entry /maintenance compounded by the usage limitations make kids.us a limited revenue platform.

However, where there's a will, there's a way. So if you can make it "fly", by all means go for it!!!

www.detagged.co.uk is about as "subdomained" as you can get! ---LOL

As far as having any .us names resembling the "kids.us" space, I would stay away from it like the plague. Including those names like www.gameskids.us. Sure you could put PG material on the site, but it could be considered an infraction of the new Domain Name Act that came out to protect children.

just my .02.

Yikes, just took a look at www.gameskids.us. Not sure if if a PPC page is the way to go, especially if the kids get into the "Dating" part of the page.

Mind you natural type-ins probably won't occur enmasse with this domain, but that doesn't matter when it comes to the new Domain Act to protect kids...

I'm saving my money on this one.... They knew people would only register prime one word names so why not make $350 instead of the usual minimum amount right?

You know all these really are....are subdomains so I wonder how much people would pay for such service like toys.sex.com or travel.sc.com
