When we got Yourname.kids.us few days ago, Enom charged us $85 + an extra mysterious $25 certificate which was, as they explained, our bid amount during the preregistration auction.

We investigated a bit here in the forum and it seems nobody else paid something more than those $85 right ?

Please, confirm ... here's the explanation Enom gave us:

***
Dear Mr. Luigi Marruso & C.,

The reason for the $25 dollar charge is because you were in the
pre-registration queue and that was your bid amount.
The difference between pre-registration and live registration(land rush
registration) is that you got to bid for a domain name before
the names were available to the public.

If you purchase a kids.us domain name now... since it is on live
registration... you would not be charged the $25 dollars.
But because you placed a bid before the kids.us became available to the
public, your bid amount of $25 was accepted.

If others only paid the $85 dollars... that was because they didn't go
through the pre-registration queue but when through the live registration.

I hope this answers your question.

Yea, and they charged me $95 at the time and now my price is listed at $90. And now I see you guys paid $85?!? I thought my reseller account was the lowest prices...

I am going to squabble with them to try and get a refund for some of it. This is crazy. But I still like my 2 names. :)

this whole kids.us thing is dumb, in my opinion. Its just a sub domain, its a fad. Just because some idiot paid $9000 for one of these names doesnt mean much. I dont understand why these have any value....none the less, if you can find idiots to buy them for huge money, maybe it isnt such a bad idea to reg these....

From a corporate point of view, extending your brand to "future" big spenders, it's not a dumb idea at all.

I can see a lot of kids.us sites in the future that have games on them, as well as science facts, etc that WILL BE "sponsored" by corporations...

check this out for possible reasons why...

Same deal here. This is the email I got regarding the charges to for the domain. Although Enom wasn't very clear when it came to the charges incurred upon bidding.

I don't see much value in them. Although, I would register a couple if I was allowed to.
