King.com fetches $150,000.

Wonder who bought that? Shouldn't need too many guesses!

Best Regards

Do a search on this board for king.com -- it was stolen before, too. Pathetic registrars.

Was it Register.com 's fault?

That's a scary thought. What types of ways should people protect their domains to prevent theft?

Registrar-lock and change password to your account/domain every month or so (make your password complex...at least 8 characters, letters and numbers).

Also, don't expose your account name publicly (if possible).

Oh yea, and whois privacy services ...forgot about that one.

Wow, it amazes me how these stolen domains get away like that.

Same here. I praised register for doing a good job. I think not.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to assure you that it is a legitimate sale and the domain is not stolen.
I had been in contact with Peter King for a while about king.com as I had a prospective buyer interested in the name. However, at that point, we discovered the domain had been hijacked. Lots of people contacted Peter to let him know what was happening, Sedo's legal counsel, Jeremiah and Richard Lau being especially of help, and Peter got his domain back. He was lucky though as it seemed the hijacker had targeted a number of other premium domains.

Once Peter had recovered from the shock and made some changes to ensure the future security of the name, we were able to finalize the sale of king.com with the original buyer.
All's well that ends well!

Right on, Nora! It's nice to hear that someone is actually on our side in these cases. :)

I wish the resources and personnel were in place to track down the thief. One day it will be so. At least this one ended OK for the parties involved.
