Yea I could use a nice script, I'd pay a grip for it.
(Few hundred)

You need more than just a good script - which would not be tough to write - you need a registrar to run it against. Most are not keen on having their servers slammed by automated scripts trying to grab a few thousand domain names...

ps By the way, the title of this thread really offends me. There is no right to grabbing domain names that makes it a one country activity. If someone from another country beats you to a desirable domain name, that just means he plays the game better than you do.

No script can make a domain expire before it should do - so there may be another explanation for it or your calcs could be wrong (did the ns's for the domain drop out of the root for example?).

I agree with thewitt though, if someone gets a name that you want before you do, they are not in the wrong it just shows there is room for improvement with your own methods.

Hmm just saw that thread :D
True, a few Koreans are good in the domain dropping game. Before them, Chinese were good also. I get to play a bit just out of hobby.

I can write a script that does what expirefish etc do but I can't warrantee the results; the best method would be a script linked to an API that registers the domain on the spot.

timechange, that'd be a good venture,
If you could write a script like expirefish.
I'd financially back you.

We could start our own Snapnames type deal.
And sell it at $15 bucks a pop. And even if we get no sales, we can still use it to pick up the domains we like.

Its a bit late to get into the game now that the WLS is about to be implemented.

You could sweep for non WLS'd domains - but that would be the dregs that nobody else wanted.

these scripts auto call the company with a robot voice
asking them to drop the domain name
otherwise they will be assimilated

I thought that was still being questioned.
And not a sure thing.

Here's the flowchart:

1. Develop hardware backbone on a fast connection.
2. Define list of wanted domains
3. Write script that looks them up quite often
4. Write script that registers them automatically to whoever applied for them

It's not a done deal, but according to documents already published by Verisign, they don't believe they need anyone's approval to do it, and I believe they are only waiting until they complete the development of the software to implement it.

ICANN won't stop them. They are gutless.
