I have just read a thread concerning a possible dispute between 2 members here, to them this will be a serious matter and could result in further action, we do not know. But almost immediately the thread was started other members started posting quips on it so as to make it a joke. This does not help solve the possible dispute, in fact it may if anything alienate the two members and make a resolution harder to accomplish.
This though brings up the subject of how we generally conduct ourselves on this forum as members. Adam and the team are trying to entice more domainers and especially end-users to DNF. Now what impression do you think an end-user looking through the posts on this forum would get of many of the members here? That impression will also distort how they view members as a whole.
How can we expect business professionals and other end-users to take us seriously if we act in such unprofessional ways? The answer is we cannot. Now if we are to give Adam a chance of succeeding in really making this the first port of call for end-users we must start moderating our behaviour. This may be difficult at times but it is how it must be in my opinion.
If we want to joke and have a laugh then there is the chatroom, and witty comments would be far more effective in chat with the cross banter. In fact that already occurs for those that tend to go there.
So please start thinking about what is good for the forum, for us members, and also think how controlling our posting habits can actually affect our bottom lines as domainers.
As Delboy from 'Only Fools and Horses' would say "You know it makes sense".
