Hi

Believe it or not one of the largest ISP inlatinamerica, IFX, forgot to renew their most valuable domains which expired on Jan 03, now all services are down.

I personally called IFX to know more and they told me they were having technical problems, when I told him that they forgot to renew the main domain which expired yesterday and now it is showing a default parked page from register.com the staff member almost die by a heart attack right there in the phone line.

Yes, that´s true , big companies are still failing sometimes, hope all can be restored asap, thousand (if not millions) of users are waiting for them.

oh, domains? yeah, domains are www.tutopia.com and .net
alexa: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/tutopia.com

Lets see how it goes

Unbelievable! I had to Google the domain to be sure - definitely a parked page at the moment...someone's head will roll!

well, looks they fixed it now, it was offline showing a parked page for 3 hrs, now i checked the whois and looks they added 2 years to the expiration date.
hope will not make this error again in 2010

fortunately, doobee was able to check it before fixed so u cannot call me "the crazy tim84" :)

Kind of like the Google employee who mistakenly deleted Google.de?

I think google deleted that employee.

Makes me wonder: "why not preregister for 10 years?" :?: Plus, all of my developed and active websites are on auto-renewal. Thought it would be a normal common setting for large companies.

Someone in IFX will surely be slapped by a large trout ;P
This is what befuddles me. I retire from the military in 3 years. I'm looking for a large corporation to give me a cushy job whilst I collect my government pension.

I'm thinking this firm could use me to watch over their domains for them. Mark my word, I'd ensure none of their names would ever, ever, ever ever ever expire. Hell, I'd renew them on my personal cc, as long as you paid me good enough. :cheesy:

Big companies are overrated sometimes.
For instance micro$oft has a history of letting names expire: hotmail, passport,... ;)

I have seen some utter negligence from other corporations too (like letting premium LLL .com expire, and when you offer to buy them they hang up on you )

Don't give google ideas. I'm sure with the right R&D team it can happen.
