Just curious, I posted a few domains on LeaseThis.com. I really like the idea of a platform to lease quality domains but I wonder if the service stands a chance of making it?

I know LeaseThis.com is fairly new but am wondering if anyone here has leased one of their domains or knows anyone else that has leased a domain through LeaseThis.com?

What other (if any) companies are provided a leasing/licensing service for domainers? I haven't been able to find much on the forum regarding leasing/licensing of domains. I'd really like to hear from others-thanks.

I wanted to bump this thread hoping for answers to domain leasing questions as well...

Several deals are taking forever as the domain buyers are waiting for money to come from their angel investors and/or VC firms that I'm thinking about leasing in the meantime to make some money on the domain.

Lots of pros and cons such as - what if a purchase deal comes in while I'm stuck in a 6-12 month lease? I'd hate to work a lease deal and a purchase deal comes in.

My ultimate goal is to sell the domain rather than hold onto it for another 6-12 months but if I can generate some revenue in that time, why not?

Grrrr... Tough decisions...

before you signed up, did you inquire for references?

seems like that's where those answers should come from first.

you should also know what the lease agreements are and how binding they will be.

leases can be structured however you the domainer owner chooses.

it's up to both parties to agree on the terms.

I just want to say that this year was my first year as a domainer that i leased one of my domains.

The contract was pretty simple...it was for one year.

I gave them the price and they paid in full. It was simple and fast.

Can you expand on your post...

- Did you draw up the lease, did they or did you or they use a domain leasing service?

- Also, did they pay you up front for 1 year or month to month?

- Did your search standing drop or get higher with the search engines?

Thanks!

themew,

Sure, i can expand .

They were not willing to spend the amount i wanted for the domain. So we agreed on a one year lease price.

I told them they have to pay upfront for 1 year.

It is still currently being leased by them, prior it was a parked site.
