The purpose is to educate people here on what sells and in what price range so that IDN buyers can make informed decisions.
Thanks.
What you need to do is compare the IDN market in this stage of its life at ASCII at the same stage of its progression. Add the fact that probably 98% of international language internet users are not aware of IDNs at this point.
But that is all about to change. And the change will happen over the next year as the International businesses choose to display their business names in native language urls, and people begin to search or "type in" in their own languages. How do you "type in" in the English language if you can't even read or understand the language? If you were to have to navigate the internet in a non-English language, would your user experience be the same? IDNs will come into use because they serve a great purpose, and will make using the internet easier and more efficient for non-English speaking users.
IDN values will rise, as they go into more widespread use. Today they are only a fraction of the value they will be 2-5 years from now.
Saying that, a better guage of the market today is what is NOT for sale. There are virtually NO "deals" or giveaways on top generic IDNs or major city IDNs. Most holders of top IDNs aren't even listing their top IDNs at this time. Take a clue from that where the market is heading.
Discussing IDN sales in a thread makes me jealous? I thought I was helping out members here about the IDN market
No problem asking any questions or raising any points, positive or negative. IDN is still a speculative investment from the standpoint that no one knows how high they will go.
What is clear is that IDNs will come into widespread use over time, and the system and browser support is now in place to allow that to happen.
For the investment of $7 or $8, it would be hard to lose any money on your investment even if you have to wait 3 years. The potential returns for IDNs if they even do 1/10th as well as ASCII is still huge.
Bottom line for many is a conservative investment, with outstanding return potential. Don't invest money looking for a short term gain, but consider the upside if it performs nearly as well as other domains. Some of the countries, like Japan have 130 million population, huge economies, and widespread internet use. Maybe worth a risk of $50 for 7 or 8 IDNs.
To some degree, it is kind of like being back in 1997 with all of the knowledge of 2007. Worth thinking about that, unless you think the "whole" non-English speaking world is going to "reject" using their native language to surf, search, or advertise their websites on the internet.
idn = International Domain Name
or idn = Enron part 2
You obviously know nothing about the history of IDN development and the potential to globalize business in a much greater way than ever possible with only "all English" urls. English only urls certainly have not scored well on "ease of use" for anyone that doesn't speak any English.
