Hey Everyone!

I would love to be able to work from home one day! I am leaving my job in 6 months! I just wish I had the guts and money to take the risk and work from home!

Anyhow eventually I would love to be able to develop some great sites.

Can anyone offer the pros and cons of working at work from the Internet.

Any advice would be great.

And if you have done this, your stories would be fantastic!

Please offer your tips and advice and the pros and cons, success stories and failures as well!

Pros:
- No boss
- No set work hours
- Potential to make a fortune
- Satisfaction of creating things or striking deals (of course, this works both ways)

Cons:
- Social aspect of working on your own (for me, this has been the biggest downside)
- Can be stressful at times, paperwork , keeping the books up to date, dealing with complaints/legal issues etc.
- Often little of no financial predictability
- Potential to lose a lot of money, your house and/or not be able to pay the bills.
- Long hours and often difficult to separate work from family life – especially if you're working from home, which I presume you will be.

don't go in to many directions at once, set goals on projects and stay with them, once something gets on the backburner it tends to stay there.

These two have been the most difficult for me. I especially agree with the first one.

get the biggest marker board you can find (and if you fancy it, a box of different coloured markers)

Keeping targets and trying to be organized can go a long way...

.. I sometimes lose the plot for days though. my girlfriend could be more supportive I think - but when I'm working at peak performance it's difficult for me to break from it for family...

There must be a healthy split somewhere...

Make sure to schedule regular trips to the gym or hike, etc regularly.
If you sit in front of the computer all day you can start to feel lethargic quickly. exercise, fresh air and healthy food will help. Go out and see a movie from time to time also. You won't feel as isolated.

This is the most important point for me. As i was isolated a while with no exterior contact. Only me and the pc.

Once you start working at home, be sure to write ToDo list for the day
as soon as you wake up.

I had many days in front of monitors for long hours, but done nothing
at the end of the day :D

to be able to work from home is a great opportunity
