Only 7100 LLLL.COM domains are left and we will be out of supply very soon.

What do you think about 4 Letter .com name market and values going forward?

Thanks.

Pronouncable and ones that have some kind of known meaning are best
All premium letters second best
The ones remaining mostly have the ugly combinations, there might be a few gems in there though, but they are what's remaining after being picked through by the domain speculators

Demand is mostly for nice looking pronouncable ones, and I think the market will go up faster for those because they are a finite resources, even though some of the demand comes from other domainers. 4 letter pronouncables are nice for new web start ups, and there will always be new companies coming online. Prices for mid to low quality LLLL won't rise as fast because there are so many of them. But once they are all gone it almost gives them a 2x or 3x minimum reg fee value. That's my two cents...

They'll all be registered in 1-2 months and the prices can only go up. It's all about demand and supply.

All good LLLL's are a great investment now: cvcv.com/vcvc.com; premium/good letters; pronounceable.

MG, I totally agree. It's all about supply and demand. And unlike most CCC's (ex. hyz.com), good CVCV's are brandable, which makes them that much more attractive.

yes, many LLLL.com's are better than crappy LLL.com's
many of those in the sig above are very nice examples.
pronouncable LLLL.com's have been getting up to mid x,xxx in recent sales.

The LLLL market is only going to go up if you ask me. Like someone said, supply and demand.

The ones that are left are pretty worthless though. Just too many bad letter combos.

Supply = 456,976 - # of developed sites - # held by speculators

Demand = some very small percentage of 6,600,000,000 current world population ... 0.01% might be (or might not be) extremely optimistic to think 1 out of every 10,000 people in the world would want an LLLL.com enough to pay premium or even reg fee - that would be 660,000 people, slightly more than the supply.

Compare to # of dictionary word .coms - ie, there are about 450,000 words in Merriam-Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged (which is just American non-specialist English - probably actually closer to 1,000,000 words in use if taking medical / scientific terms into account) Now this is probably a bogus comparison in several ways but is it at all possible that something like abqz.com might in general be preferred over for example ablative.com ? Or zzyx.com over zzyzogeton.com ?

IF so, then why ?

Acronyms are certainly one possibility ... And that's a big factor in value of some of the quasi-premium LLLL.coms - there's likely to be orders of magnitude greater demand for those with the high-frequency letters.

But I've been learning to appreciate many LLLL.coms as somewhat equivalent to nice short phone numbers.

Pronounceable in their own way in 4 syllables (+2 if there's a 'w' involved) ... Not great, but really not too bad. In some ways - as a matter of personal taste - I'd rather work with the "generic" 'zee zee wye exx" than some particularly goofy sounding CVCV.com ... But maybe that's just me.

People chuckled at me in 2000 and 2001 when I was registering some of the better LLLL.coms (while you could still get some great LLL.coms for under $1500 each). I think the remaining LLLL.coms, today, are not very good (but still have potential), and it would be best, IMO, to pick up some of the better combinations from sellers for $25 to $200 (or more) each. Guage the popularity (potential demand) by looking at how many other extensions are gone and how they are being used, plus the number of Google matches for that acronym.

Common patterns are also something to consider. For example, LLLLs ending in "MG" could be for Media Group, Medical Group, Marketing Group, Management Group, etc. Names ending with "I" can be for Incorporated, International, Internet, etc. Endings in "A" could be for America or Association, etc. Endings in "C" could be for Company, Corporation, Consultants, etc. Endings in "FG" for Financial Group. Endings in "OA" can be for "Of America." ETC....
