This name makes for an interesting discussion. On the good side, it is extremely often searched for (Overture over 300,000)

On the downside, people might expect illegal child porn. Also some creditcard companies try to ban the use of the word Lolita.
To test, I asked AltaVista for a list of domain names that include the word Lolita. The vast majority of these sites contain 18+ models, these sites simply like the great traffic that comes from the use of the name Lolita.

Now what would you think this name is worth?

You have to be really careful with it. Having your name on the reg details might get you a knock on the door from the police. There is a massive move against cp. I am starting a site to list webmasters that promise not to use descriptions like lolita and show underage pictures. I think your best bet it is to sell it to the FBI

DomainPairs is being a little hysterical. The police will not be knocking on your door because you own lolita.info. It should work well pointing to a "Teens" affiliate.

Lolita = Bad karma (for me at least). I keep away from anything with Lolita.

yeah , greggish has a good point .. it would be perfect for a redirection URL but DomainPairs also has a point you may attract the wrong kind of visitors :9

You'd probably make money selling it to a russian cp site.
I think that anything you do with it is going to attract attention. Lolita is now linked to sex and is probably not suitable for a non-sex teen site. The point I was making about the police was that owning the domain indicates an interest or awareness, and they may feel that they should monitor your traffic, so you have to be ultra clean.

Don't promote criminal activity...especially involving that subject matter. Seriously, that is sick.

Not much, it has no resale value...

Create an info site on Stanley Kubrick's "Lolita", based on a Vladimir Nabokov's once-banned novel.

Who knows. Just put it to creative use, that way, you are keeping dirty minds from using it otherwise.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Firstly I am not too afraid for the FBI or similar. I own this name as part of a large portfolio and it is clear that I just have it to make money on the sale.

Secondly I have already had a reasonable offer (yes doberry, the name actually does have a resale value :). I know the other party has other names that he refers to sites with 18+ models so I'm okay to sell to him.

But now I was just wondering if anybody had an idea of the value of such a name, for example based on the traffic generating possibilities it might have.

"Lolita" has always been associated with sex...thats what makes it a good domain. When I said point it to a "teens" affiliate, I meant a teens SEX site. Legal teens of course 18+...nothing wrong with that. As far as resale value... I would think at least $500.

If you want to use the name as a legitimate site.
Give info about "who Lolita is" and jargon associated with the name "Lolita". If there are any factual or mythical books about the
person.Indicate how adult sites ban the use of any Lolita references on their sites and the association of the name with "child porn". Be careful
