Hi @ll,

we want to buy a domain over a period of 10 month. Thats why we are looking for a service such as escrow.com to secure the deal. Problem is, that escrow only covers a single payment. Do you guys know a method where a domain is put on hold by a service and the amount can be paid of a period of time with fixed montly rates ?

Thanks for the help; Regards Marco

I don't think any escrow would have a problem with that.
Have you contacted them?
But I don't see a role of escrow in this case. You either lease a
name and get it after last payment, or use the escrow only for the first payment.

Escrow will only allow a single payment. The role of escrow is of course the security. If I pay 10 month 400$.. than I want to be sure that I´ll get the domain with the last payment. That´s why we are looking for such a service ! Any other ideas ? Thanks; Regards Marco

I can see no way to achieve that without some risk involved.
Of course you have to make a contractual aggreement with the seller, where you will have all legal rights to have the name after
10 months. In that case you need no escrow.

The other solution would be agreement where seller could not get any part of payment until all completed and name transfered.
I think this could be agreed with an escrow, but is unfavourable
for the seller.

It also should stipulate that if you fail to pay, the contract should be
no more valid and the already paid money should be transfered to
the seller, providing you used the name from the beginning.

Payment by instalments is NOT good for both buyers and sellers: the risk is just TOO high. Unless you know the other party VERY well (either have done quite a number of deals before or have other on-going relations with them). Just not worth it.

You can make "e-Escrow.net", serve this purpose, since you find a need for it.
I also have "TermDebt.com" which is exactly what you need.

I was once offered $10,000 Canadian (approx. US$6,500) for megacity.com over an 18-month period. Hey, what's the point of getting just a few hundred every month and lose the management of your domain? Not to mention the risk of getting into some kind of dispute along the way ...
