Every day I see people snapping up what look like crappy names that you wouldn't normally bother to register, just because they have a (low) overture score.
Examples:

Onlinetelugu.com - 26 Ovt
thomasmyspaceeditior.com - 27 Ovt
besitosbyvalerie.com - 30 Ovt
canuckdog.com - 27 Ovt
bcpsk12.com - 25 Ovt
theplanconnection.com - 25 Ovt
atlantajournalconstition.com - 28 Ovt
nrichindia.com - 28 Ovt
homedrpotopinion.com - 27 Ovt
montanavetsforkerry.com - 26 Ovt
pbskjds.com - 25 Ovt

(These are already taken, so don't bother trying!) ;-)

My question is, do these domains really pay for themselves? Am I missing out on a piece of the action here, by only going for domains that look marketable?

I used to think it was just newbies getting over-excited, registering anything with an overture result, but now I am starting to think that maybe I am the one missing out...

Can anyone show me an example of domains with Ovt less than 30, that actually make a profit?

Can you give an example?
On average, what do you make off an Ovt 30 domain?

It all depends on the name ofcourse.

Ovt can mean nothing... a 36 ovt could have been created by one person.

Most of the time ovt names bring in traffic.

Look for a minimum of 100 overture which should bring nice traffic and a bit of revenue, but they hard to get for the right price !

I have an ovt with ext of 28 for sept although it was higher in other months that does between 75 to 100 a day and an ovt with ext of 130 that has been as high as 202 and does 20 to 30 a day so it is not an exact measure of traffic.

depends, a good keyword and US traffic is enough for me to get a low overture name.

So what method do you use to determine if it has good US traffic?
(Other than Overture)...

I got an ovt 28 that makes $100+/month. An ovt 59 that does $1000+/month. Many domains without ovt that make $100-$1000/month.

It varies greatly, you've got to factor in everything.

A domain needs to make - what $0.60? on average - per month to be profitable and pay for registration fees. For some domains, this can be a click a year. Others means 30 clicks a month.

I'm relatively new to the parking thing although I've been in domains for years. Kind of sorry I never touched it until now because my eyes are certainly widening. Right now, I'm averaging $0.245 per unique visit (not click) and no gambling domains or adult ones in those ones. So if a name is bringing in any traffic at all, it doesn't take much to pay for itself. If this number continues to hold up, that means I need to average 3 VISITS a month for each domain in my portfolio to break even on reg fees. An easier rule of thumb I'm using is that I want domains to earn an average of $0.03 per day on their own. At that rate, I consider it to be profitable :)

I wasn't saying I get paid per visit, I was just saying what my numbers are averaging out to on a per visit basis.
