I think I would have accepted it lol. The article said it wasn't the first time he had turned down prize money so they wasn't completely surprised. I read they are trying to decide what to do with the money. He should have accepted it and put it for good use or towards causes that he believes in.

Why not accept it and donate it to a good cause if you don't want it.

Okay, okay! I'm sorry.

Next time I'll know better.

Geez, give me a break.

He is an idiot, all the brains in the world do you no good whatsoever if you are broke and living under a bridge. Being a "genius" math whiz he should see the value in a free seven figures falling in your lap. Otherwise, he is an idiot.

I think it was more of a concept than a real solution, the whole thing is pretty silly if you ask me.

I agree with Chris.. What good is all the smarts if you can't even live a comfortable life because you don't have money (now I am not sure if he does or doesn't unless he gets paid well at his job). The best thing to do is take the money even if you don't want it and donate to poor and hungry kids around the world. There are so many things one can do with such amount of money which effects lives in a positive way.

He's not taking the money because the mathematician Matt Damon is the one who actually solved it. Saw a documentary on it years ago, narrated by Robin Williams.

He is not an idiot... if he pays 1 million to reject the 1 million offer, then i will truly declare him as an idiot...

I agree with that

He's clearly a genius and one who has no value for money, so why not take it anyway and put it to good use by giving it to a worthy cause.

Great story all the same esp in these money mad days.

Solve this riddle:

Would you rather be a math genius or a millionaire?

I think I know the answer to this question from about 99% of the population. Who's the math genius now, huh? lmao.

"He rejected the Clay Mathematics Institute's $1 million because he thought it was unfair and "unjust," saying that a U.S. mathematician deserved as much credit as he did, the Interfax news agency said."

Then wouldn't he get his point across more if he accepted the million and then gave half or all of it to the US mathematician? Although I admire him for standing his ground, it seems a bit stubborn to me. If they aren't going to do the right thing, he could accept the money and do the right thing himself.
