I received an offer to buy MediaMax.com, but am trying to establish it's value.

- Good domain
- Google pagerank of 5 - lots of inbound links
- Still gets about 1k visitors per day (looking for online storage, online backup)

Any ideas?

Brandable and aged media domain, reseller $1k - $2k, end user $5k+

Please note, I didn't count the value of ex-dev site traffic into my appraisal.

Good luck.

I just started, but about $100 in 5 days...

If it's only worth $5k, I may be better off just staying with Mozy for a bit...

Please refer to the red part.

lol

if you made $100 in 5 days, then the appraisal of $5k would be extremely low based on projected earnings for 1 year

with proven stats, multiples of 10yrs revenue or more could be $70k.

imo...

chances are this buyer will not be interested in paying anything near. most likely some small end user who won't pay more than 1k.

Multiples of 10 years doesn't work for all kind of traffic domains.
In most case the domain should be generic word and the traffic are direct type-in.

From what I can see, the existing traffic are from ex-developed file hosting site. The traffic will drop day by day.
For $70k, you can buy a well established Alexa top 15k file hosting site. :)

Owntag is right. 10+ year multiples are reserved for top tier generics with type in traffic.

don't be so quick to co-sign

10 yr multiples are reserved for the sellers who know how to get their price

plain and simple

traffic can fade for generic domains as well and everyone who owns and sells their genrics, don't always get 10yrs roi

it's always up to the individual domainer to command their price

you also have to consider the possibility of getting increased traffic thru seo and other sm tactics, which would help sustain the rev flow

even if the domain is ex website traffic, it's brandable with generic feel

again, imo...

It is a nice name with a lot going for it. Old website traffic does fade, and sale based on that revenue should probably be 2X to 5X yearly plus inherent name value.

If you could get 25K+ for it, you should take it. Anything less than 15K, you should just milk out the earnings IMHO. In between those amounts, you'd have to make a judgement call.

Thanks for the input. The original web site has been out of operation for over a year and has just been redirecting to various sites (most recently Mozy, which has been the most profitable). I'm amazed that the traffic hasn't dropped off more... Strange how the Internet works...
