There was LL.com for auction at namejet.com. I did was trying to bid but it was limited as for $2500 maximum as I didn't upgrade the account.

The domain LL.com was sold for mid xx,xxx range. I think I missed big opportunity to acquire LL.com at relatively cheap price and I think it was my big mistake not to upgrade my namejet account.

How about you? Did you make any big mistake like me? :?:

I tend to think of ZL as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I've made mistakes.

We all have.

Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

I would imagine zl could have been flipped for 65 to 80k within the month...

I somehow missed the auction, not that I wanted that domain much, but I sure would have bumped the winner another 20 grand :)

I agree with you guys, I don't think we'll ever see an LL.com at that price again.

You think the global economic meltdown is over and reversing? I have plenty of great names (no LL.com's sadly) to sell and wish it were true. But I'm just glad to see domain prices hold up as well as they have.

I decided not to upgrade as $25,00 per name is a bit too much if you are constantly buying domains. Without limit, I will go for xx,xxx ranges. It is a kind of restricting myself not to pay end user prices.

But on this occasion, I was wrong.

That was an excellent price and an upgraded membership would have been well worth it. I wonder how many people have done this?

Also, when you upgrade, is it instant or is there a period to wait (days, etc..)?

My mistake? I made three big ones:

1) Sitting at the registrar's home page thinking "wow, this is a good name to register"
2) Registering the .com, .net, .org, .info for them
3) Registering them all with 1&1. :D

my big mistakes was when i first started domaining in early 2007 when there was a big LLL rush. There was so many 3 character domains still available to reg etc that had numbers in and i thought narr there crap, nobody will want them. I want no numbers.

Now look at them, there going for like $300 a pop and i could have regged loads of them last year for $8 each

Also CVCV domains were cheap and tnow there going in there $x,xxx's

i missed out bbbbbiiiiggg time

A big mistake I made was selling and flipping a lot of domains I caught in 2002-2003. If I would have held on to many of the names I caught rather than going for the quick buck, I would have a solid .com .net portfolio. It was so easy and cheap to get names back then...I and many others did not anticipate the new "post catch" auction system that came along and ruined the party in late 2003. We also used to post lists of available names here just for friendly fun and to get dnf$. When I look back at some of those lists, I can't believe some of the stuff that I passed up.

My mistake is almost like yours. I wish I had developed not only a short term vision, but also have a long term goal and aspirations. I should have stopped flipping. I came in the game mid 2003, I caught on to the game fairly quickly...well only from getting only 4 hours a sleep a night. (almost lost my girlfriend). I quickly amassed a pretty good portfolio of 600 domain names. I would be loaded now had I held out especially in the emerging sectors like voip, nanotechnology, social networking, etc grew and grew. Lesson was learned and I drove on and adjusted. All you can do in this business. Looking back and sobbing will not change a thing, though hopefully new domainers can learn from where we might have erred. :eek:k:

Yes, so we don't have to invent the wheel twice always. But, there's still many mistakes to be made and actually, i really don't mind as long as I learn from it.

My biggest mistaked so far:
-starting out really late seriously after 'discovering' domaining/developing; I registred here in 2006 but only since this year working on it seriously.
-valuating my small portfolio too high
-spending too much time reading instead of doing something
-something that i am not aware of yet :)

Like so many others, starting too late. Didn't really have any other option since I just graduated college last spring and didn't really have a lot of extra money before.

Also, I let my last name drop (nosbisch.com) when I was 15 or 16, thinking no one would ever register it. Now it is for sale at buydomains.
