Please give me your opinions on .mobi

Is this a good thing or bad thing? Will it be supported and accepted or hated and abandoned?

Please let me get some insight about what everyone here thinks!

Will we actually use it for what it's worth?

Hey, good question:horn:

I don't see any potential at all if you ask me.

But I was never good in Fortunetelling, so I will be very alert to further answers.:boom:

I only see a potential for .mobi in the distant future. Even right now very few people know that it exists let alone having a site for people to visit.

I think it could be huge, because of the organizations behind it, the cellular providers and manufacturers(t-mobile, nokia, etc.). All these companies promoting it will ensure its ubiquity and success, IMHO.

The contrast couldn't be greater with the .eu fiasco. With an impotent and divided eu behind it, .eu took forever to get going and now faces extensive disputes over tens of thousands of registered domains.

Personally I like .MOBI, unfortunatly in the states we are a bit behind the technology use for texting and such because it is so cheap to make a phone call. This is a major difference compaired to the overseas market.

For the US, if you have content to download it could be a great extension. Pretty fun to say and easy to remember. From a marketing perspective it speaks pretty clearly to the end user (consumer) that it is a mobile application. I know that is not completely true, but if developers use it correctly anyone with a mobile nitch market could do really well.

sponsored by a consortium of companies including Google, Microsoft, Vodafone, Samsung, Ericsson and Nokia
This sets .mobi apart.

In answer to the question, .mobi is better than .museum or .aero but not as good as .info or .biz - In My Opinion.

The advantage of .mobi will be when, and if, the big companies start to market the newest and latest domain names in traditional and new media. As users become comfortable with the fact that not all domains need to end in .com, the .info extension will take off because it is intuitive.

I say bring on the .MOBI .

"A good .info is better than a bad .com"
