Hi Chaps,
just thought i'd try to clear up what's happening with the .mobi premium names as it seems some of us are a little confused.
Apologize if you already know this what i'm saying as is on .mobi homepage.
Basically we had the sales as we know of .mobis at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C auction
Today 6th November people can apply for 4 premium .mobis.............

sport.mobi
news.mobi
weather.mobi
ringtones.mobi

Basically anyone can apply enclosing fee for 500 euros.
It's non-refundable & they will award to anyone who can show they will develop them in interest of .mobi & public.
I would imagine only a big player will win & is highly possible they have already deceided. Jobs for the boys & all that.
From what i can see, process ends in Mid . December. Not sure if they then send them to another traffic auction for bidding war with selected few or they just pick the winner.
They just loosely say, online auctions will be forthcoming.
Anyway, here's the link.........
http://pc.mtld.mobi/switched/premiumsales.html
Anymore info. or knowledge of future plans, get it posted..........
Cheers,

Hi Predator,

Can you clear up one point for me please!

Why would anybody send 500 Euros as a non-refundable deposit to .mobi registry? If anybody is feeling that generous I will not object to them sending the money through to me!

The sum is far too small for the 'Big Boys', and then an auction afterwards! This beggars belief. I wonder though how many gullible people will apply for these four 'prime' domains in the hope that they 'stand a chance'?

I agree. Nobody in their right mind should apply, but some fools will. They will have already made up their mind whose getting it, like i say. It was probably all agreed on the golf course last year!
I just posted as some people including myself were under impression some sales figures were coming out around now, whereas in fact it was the application process.
They are holding 6000 premium names, they are eeking them out really slowly.
Maybe this will help shift some of ours to the endusers? Let's hope so!

I think this well help .mobi to grow.
500 EUR for nothing prevents ordinary people/domain grabbers to apply.

So if some really good premium domains go to some big company (which are obliged to develope them), the end-user will have some useful mobi-sites (with a value/benefit unlike a parking page) and will get familiar with the mobi extension.

In my opinion, this is the only chance for mobi to become successfull.
2 Mio mobile parking site wouldn't...
