- Dot Mobi craziness, eased with reality check

- Not Ripe Yet

- Hold, Hold, Hold

- .Mobi an unknown quantity to most of adult conference attendees

- Not a domainer conference, but great for domaining exposore.. closer to that mainstreamed ideal

- DotMobi awareness spread to adult industry for which mobile is new frontier

- Lots new and hungry people going home to the http://pc.mtld.mobi/whois/index.php

I had the name AdultMovie.mobi up with only $1000 reserve.. but wasn't meant to be today. Actually, appears to be a blessing in disguise. On to the next event/opportunity for the name.

Come back harder

About the 2 .mobi sold in the live auction today:
FreeSexClips.mobi for $600 (120K OVT)
SexCartoons.mobi for $1000 (145K OVT)

What do you think of these prices? Are they too low or too high or somewhere in between?
I personally like FreeSexClips more than SexCartoons

yes i agree. i have onlineporn.mobi & they didn't even accept for silent! lol
it's a holder
Pred ;)

nb: don't forget some would have not met reserve.
ie. bidding on virgins.mobi went to $17k

bidding on porn.com went to $5 million
etc

I felt maybe some reserves were too high - but this could be to the .mobi advantage as this would get the punters thinking and digging into this NEW tld..... The Porn Industry know that the Future is Mobile Internet & now they are made aware of the significance of a .mobi....

This is a good foundation for the dot mobi and it will be the Porn Industry again leading the way to the Mobile Internet Revolution with the .mobies IMHO

You need to consider:

-Virgins.mobi had bids up to $17K but the reserve was too high. Other premium names like girls.mobi and bl*wjobs.mobi had 100K+ reserves and mostly likely did not sell b/c of these high reserves (RaiderGirl kept track of the first 50 names that got bids and did not sell.. so we don't know how many bids other .mobi's received? There's no doubt girls and bl*wjobs got bids higher than $17K)

-It's too early to say that the "Dot Mobi craziness, eased with reality check" when Sportsbook.mobi recently sold for $129,800 and .mobi's auctions continue to fetch $X,XXX sales regularly (bets.mobi just closed at $7,851 this morning at Sedo)

-The majority of the people at the auction had never heard of .mobi. But after hearing 44 being auctioned and several getting bids in the $X,XXX-$XX,XXX range, they are at least now aware of this extension

-This was 1st adult domain auction and sales were weak across all extensions (.com, .net, .mobi, etc).. but sales were better than the first two TRAFFIC auctions

Bottom line: Reserves were too high. Even Porn.com had bids up to $5 million but failed to sell due to the high reserve

UPDATE: Rick Schwartz has confirmed that other .mobi's did in fact get higher bids. MUCH higher. One received a bid for $25K, another for $35K, and another for nearly $100K! I don't have info at this time on which names received these bids but these were the mobi's with the highest reserves (all are now at the silent auction):

girls.mobi
bl*wjobs.mobi
fellatio.mobi
f*g.mobi
cams.mobi

it's another option

I hate to break this to you, but few people outside of these boards have ever heard of these extentions. Go ask a bunch of strangers if they have ever heard of anything other than dotcom, .net, or .org.

When you are done tallying up the results you might just want to delete your dotmobi names and start over. Either that or partner up with someone else and send an Escrow.com transaction through (make sure Whois is private).

The easiest thing to do is to just put up a fake bid at Sedo and then tell everybody on the forums that you have a bunch of interest. Then come back and tell everyone a few weeks later that the buyer dropped out.

NOBODY HAS EVER HEARD OF THIS CRAP. In a few years I will have to ask a trivia question about this extention. The answer will be more funny than it is now.....answer is Pinky Brand. It just seems like it's part of a big joke.

I have no idea what you are Banggin on about my friend :greenconfused:

I don't have Pull out a scam out of the hat to Deliver Sales like you are Suggesting

around 15 years ago nobody heard of a dot com about 10 years ago there was a surge in demand for the dot coms.

The fact is there is genuine interest Today (not even 6 months have passed) for the dot Mobies and you seem to have missed out. The funny thing is I don't think these oportunities come along very often

the adult webmaster world is largely unaware about mobi, that is for sure. however regarding virgin.mobi bids, i heard from someone who was there that were no bids on it. that they just started the bidding at 17k but there were no takers. maybe someone could verify this?

Fellow DotMobi bretheren,

May we stick together.. virtually..

I think the one thing we are all happy about is that .Mobi awareness was spread well at the non-domainer conference to the adult industry giants. After the speech at CES and record domaining pace (sportsbook.mobi recently) dot mobi is moving very fast and very well towards the mainstream.

Remember, Dot Mobi is only 15 weeks old!

I have not seen a better ground floor business opportunity in my life, that is why I am saying only many of us are DotMobi crazy.

Friends think it , right?

New found mental occupation is tremendous..

Everything on tv or we see we think ___.mobi heh that's hilarious, yes I think everyone else is crazy and the .Mobi craziness is the true reality.

Happy whois, it's worth it still :)

Happy waking up to the DotMobi world,

WorldRadio.mobi

If nobody knows it exists then it is worthless. I could give you 500 Billion dollars and you could never overcome the awareness of dotcom. Besides, many ignorant domainers have a bunch of dotmobis so this virtually guarantees it's uselessness.

It's a hot potato and I'm afraid you will be trading amongst yourselves until the next "Big Thing" comes along. If you made money you should thank Rick Schwartz for the boost. Rick has already stated that most all of these dotmobi names are useless. He has tried to warn you, but you are too caught up in the craziness to see what is going on.

There was a group of people who made money trading stocks with no earnings a few years back. However, most who played the game lost everything....or close to it. In the end, the brokers and "pushers" just grinded up another group of suckers with their "new paradigm" talk.

Shhhhhhhhhhh. Don't tell anybody.....it's a big black hole and the only way out is to find a bigger sucker. Start preparing your lousy Escrow.com transactions with your friends. If you do that and also continue to set up fake bids at Sedo then you might just find a greater fool ("You" being anyone who does it...and you know it goes on all of the time).

Funny how most of the people who have the big dotcom transactions try to keep the price away from the public's eyes? I Wonder why that is?

Have fun.

mmm. hello Iggy,
you seem to have a lot to say for yourself for someone with 29 posts. sounds a little like a banned member to me returning.
Just to answer a few of your points:
1/ nobody has ever doubted the worldwide recognition of dotcom. indeed, stretch your imagination it is possible for the two to live aside each other. in the same way it is possible some of the domainers on here own quality .coms & .mobis. considered that?
i just suggest those that attacked mobi from the start & still continue to do so are shut off from what's actually happening in real time.

2/ lol. to throw around a figure like 500 billion dollars does tend to display a little immaturity if you don't mind me saying ;)

3/ you use the phrase a bunch of 'ignorant domainers' .
anyone in particular? i can think of one.

4/ also if you take the time to go through some old posts, you'll see people have tried to use the analogy of past stock crashes etc. please credit us with some intelligence. most of us involved with this extension are involved with others, have other businesses too. some no doubt have worked in these markets. not sure whether you have a knee jerk reaction as you seem to have missed out big time.

5/ most interesting of all you seem to make a habit in your posts of insinuating that there may have been a made up story about the sportsbook sale? even though Ron (editor of dnjournal) is one of the most respected guys in the industry. also a member on here if you weren;t aware. if it's not good enough to check with buyer, seller & HEAD of escrow lol, what is good enough? also dnjournal has for many years been the most highly regarded sources of aftermarket sales.
Rick Schwartz is also a member here in case you have any questions of him.

6/ You also hint at dishonest practices. You even go into detail. A few bells started ringing with you so i thought i'd take a closer look.
Are you aware this forum is full of honest people with solid business practices? Are you aware we weedle out wronguns?

Okay had a look at a couple of your sales threads, bearing in mind you only have 29 posts!

I just picked 4 domains you are selling & they all have different registrants.
Care to explain Mr.Bigtime?

awfulbreath.com - blank registrant
chocolatedonuts.com - eric parkinson
autojunk.com - dom guy
urlinvestors.com - david gertler

I'm through.

Pred ;)

Ummm, the proof!? You didnt show any proof. All i see is an uneducated opinion from someone who knows nothing about .mobi.
Once you have supplied enough evidence that backs up your opinion, come back and share with us. I want productive debates. I dont want just opinions.

Come on! Productive debates and discussions only. Not stupid opinions. Friend, I have been in this business for almost 6 years in Japan. Do you think your post would convince me!? It hasnt yet.
Be cool, Be nice, and be productive. We are all investors. Lets help each other. :sigh2:

Oh.and the same for me what Pred said. I always support what he says! :shy:
