Came across this...

The worldwide mobile industry will be worth $1 trillion by the end of the year. Yep, that’s $1 trillion.

Portio Research's report 'Slicing Up The Mobile Services Revenue Pie' also says the number of mobile subscribers will grow from 3.1 billion at the end of 2007 to an estimated 5 billion by 2012. It predicts non-voice Value Added Services (VAS) could be worth a quarter of a trillion dollars by 2012.

Meanwhile handset shipments, which passed one billion units for the first time in 2007, will continue to rise. And the proportion of high-end devices will increase too. . The number of mobile TV subscribers is predicted to be 488.8 million by the end of 2010.

Everyone in my wife's company just upgraded to unlimited mobile internet access. Remember when only a handful of people had dial up internet? From there everyone went dial up and slowly migrated to high speed along with rollout of wifi. Now every company, every school, and most households have broadband. dotMOBI is exactly fulfilling the role that was envisioned ... sites and content that are compatible with mobile phones. Most traditional websites are not set-up for mobile. You can get ISP limited content, but to get on the real web you need to go .mobi. There are many good sites springing up daily.

"Mobile Industry" and "Mobile Internet" are two different things.

Sean, you're right, sorry i didn't mean to misslead.
I tried to edit the header but it won't let me.
Anyhow,
My point really was that the mobile industry is continuing to ever-expand, which is good news for .Mobi, as more users will be able to access the mobile web looking for services & content.

It's not as easy to monetize a mobile site as it is a regular site for the average joe webmaster. When that happens it'll give more people a reason to develop good content sites.
