no offence to the owner of horseracing.com but to pass on 4.5 million dollars is a bit of a reckless move. IMHO

Congratulations to Moniker and Traffic on the new auction record!

I want to pass on that, based on published sales records at DNSalePrice, June 2007 has already set a new record for the domain market -- $19,851,547 in total published sales. We topped the prior sales records set in Jan 2000 and the direction is only up. And June is traditionally slow month!

I'll also note that published sales have only broken $16M on four occasions:

Jan '00
Jan '06
May '07
Jun '07

I'll let you draw your own inferences about the calendar distribution and what it indicates about the strength of the current market.

I would have exchanged it for the 4.5 million. It's a huge name though.

Well, I could be wrong, but I *think* the "pass" numbers were the reserve prices -- not offers for the names that owners passed up. Anyone wanna correct that? :)

The pass figure was the last bid below the reserve.

Yes, I think someone needs to clarify if the "passed on domains received any bids at all, for example EC.com 2MM?

The list is impressive, these domains are so darn good, that Monikers "bid up too" rule doesn't apply. ;)

I recorded every opening bid and every last bid, except for a quick pee pee break. I'm compiling the data now.

I Agree. Someone posted on the other forum: Again, I am telling you, not a SOUL bid on scores.mobi, or I was blind since I did NOT see a paddle go up ONCE.

Highest bid was $250k (below reserve).

There were also phone bids. The highest bid on Scores.mobi was $115,000 (below reserve).

Check EJS's blog at http://topnotchdomains.com/blog/. He recorded all sales as well as high bids not meeting the reserve. I was following along on audio and he was flawless. Great job Elliot, thank you.

Tell me if I'm reading this right, If the price range for a domain is 25K to 50K, are you saying the starting bid could be below 25K?...If this is what they did, what determines the starting bid price?

They did a hell of a great job though on the auction..seemed to go fast.
