More problems with 1&1

I had not bothered to check my domains registered with 1&1 for some time (big mistake) and just saw that all my domain packages are locked.

When I raised a support ticket, I was told that Billing had locked me out and Billing claimed that my account was in collections and I would have to call the external collections agency to get a release code from them. However, 1&1 had my valid CC on file and there was neither any problem with the CC nor did 1&1 ever send me any e-mail to indicate there was a problem.

So why did they refer my account to a collections agency? of course now they don't answer that question or respond to other support tickets.

Does anybody have a clue as to what may have happened and how I can resolve the problem? More important, how can I get the Auth Codes to transfer my domains away from this horrible company?

Is it close to renewal time?
Maybe this is strategic “technical” problem.
When technical problems stretch over the renewal time your credit card will be automatically charged w/ renewal fees.
And there is no way to cancel credit card information associated w/ the account.
If technical problems are going to last you have two choices:
1. Cancel credit card w/ your bank, you may lose names but will not be charged for them
2. Wait, do nothing and names will be automatically renewed w/ them for the next year
(but aren’t they the best company you can wish for ;))

they are the single worst registrar ever...if you owe money on one out of 1000 domains you have with them they will lock all domains you have and not redirect them to parking anymore etc. shut off websites etc..that company is a joke...you cant just change nameservers, transfer out domains, cancel domains etc..its all designed to make it as hard as possible for the customer to do anything..the only reason they have still domains regged there is that you cant cancel them and that their German attitude towards service makes it impossible to get ahold of anyone..
