LOL! Moniker using 1 sale to make an auction seem successful. If that sale were to fall through, which several have in the past, then voilah, this "successful" auction barely did $40k worth of sales.

Over 900 names on auction and only 33 sold :?:

I think success should be measured in sales volume, as well as value.

Granted, I think they were stuggling before they even started as the majority of names on auction were crap.

The quality of names in it wasn't any different than other auctions they hold IMO. The problem was that without a live auction for people to try and get into by pricing their names to sell, they shot for the moon and way overpriced their names. I made out with $8,100 in sales in the auction because I actually priced my names reasonably. Unfortunately, I think the lack of many names priced reasonably hurt even my sales though, as most people probably got the word that the auction was a dud and never even looked at what was in it.

The juice is a LIVE, publicized auction. The silent auction offers little visibility ... and is a marginal offshoot of the LIVE auction.

Agreed. I also think Moniker are taking a liberty by asking $99 just for the privilage to enter the auction. They are doing this with all of them now. It will put off the majority of marginal buyers.

Why pay $99 if you are after a name that has a reserve of $1 :?:

This is wrong and in my eyes is pure greed and puts off potential bidders.

This venue allowed very little pre promotion of the event. the $99 is a qualifier and applies to purchase. the online gambling industry is the most private in the world and we consider any sales to be successful. There are still after auction deals going on as I write and we will be doing both a live and silent event at CAC in Macau China in November.

The sale of scores.com is the second largest public sale of the year and a huge win for everyone - be happy, your domain values continue to rise with every domain we sell in these venues...whether its one big name or 150.

TRAFFIC is up next in June, then Affiliate Summit auction in July, then InterNext in August.
