Just out of curiosity, what would you value movie-previews.com at?

The site has been developed and maintained for about 3 years.

It has a weekly e-newsletter with about 1000 subscribers.

It is the fourth listing in yahoo/google, after apple trailers, moviewebs, and movies.com - but above yahoo movies(!), real.com, rotten tomatoes, and pretty much everybody else.

It gets 7500-8500 unique visits per month

Overture for "movie previews" gets a 19,232

In google, of course, that number is over a million

Can anybody give me an idea of what I could expect if I chose to market this?

$7,500-$10,000 - nice format, I say you keep and build traffic to at least 10xcurrent traffic, then think about selling

Take a look at http://www.movie-list.com which is extremely popular in this space.

Also the value may be a little less because someone else owns: www.movie-preview.com (but nothing is up there)... maybe consider trying to pick that up as well

I am appraising the domain name ALONE. IF you also have the non-hyphenated version to complement this hyphenated name (and hyphenated could work here in this unique type-in scenario) ... I would give the "package" good marks. Without the NON hyphenated version, though, and to answer your question, I would lower my expectations. Best of Luck with your decision.

I am well aware of this site - I like it and use it quite often (as a matter of fact, my trailer links in movie-previews.com frequently point to this site)

I think you can get $100-500 depending on buyer.

Name is search engine friendly, and is developed...the site is fair.

I understand the site is not terribly exciting. I am more interested in opinions based on the name, traffic and placement.

Well, Im not qualified to say, but heres how i see it:

These are all confusingly simillar, almost identical so its hard to create a regular traffic flow and would lose lots of traffic to these sites. And considering that this is even a hyphenated version, I just cant see that kind of value. As I said, im not qualitfied to give you any kind of appraisal on this, but the way I see it, or shall I say feel it, its not worth that much.. I personaly wouldnt even think of reging it if I saw it, though I might be wrong - as I see many of you agree its worth over 5K

Thanks for elaborating. One factor I neglected to mention is that there are many movie theatre web sites that link to this site exclusively for upcoming film info (mostly smaller chains or independent theatres)

Most of your traffic will come from search engines, so the misspelled type ins aren't going to take much traffic away from you at all.

You are position 5 in Google, which requires scrolling on 800x600, so this might hurt you a bit. The keyphrase "movie previews" has around 54000 competing sites, but few of the sites in the top 10 are optimized, so keeping your position might be tough. I'd recommend optimizing the site to secure placement.

I wouldn't sell it. If you are getting 7500 hits per month you ought to start selling something on there. You would sell more if you improved the site appearance, as it doesn't look trustworthy. You could increase traffic by optimizing the site for all the major engines, sharpening up the look and feel, and increasing inbound links.

I don't think you'd find a buyer with the site looking the way it does. But once you sort that out, a sale should be easy for $5000 or more.

They are not misspeled, they are all correct terms that areused even more often than the one in question, with related subject (almost identical)..

In addition: As I said, movie reviews are way, way more popular. Take for example Overture search stats:
205.615 movie review
19.232 movie preview

So dont tell me that what I have stated above in previous post has no importance.. I dont see $5000 in it.

Market it direct to your end buyer, and you should easily make a quick sale..
