multi .com domains can all point to just one website.

Example:

  • 4cooking.com
    fourcooking.com
    forcooking.com
    forecooking.com

Is it ok to do the same thing for .mobi?

Example:

  • 4cooking.mobi
    fourcooking.mobi
    forcooking.mobi
    forecooking.mobi

Absolutely. Set your nameservers or a simple URL forwarding should work. If you regged all similar names or common typos for the same name, that is traffic you want instead of someone else getting.

The only restrictions would be if your registrar does not allow forwarding or redirecting. Most registrars include this option on the control panel and make it rather easy.

It will usually take 24-48 hours to reset servers so don't freak out if nothing shows up for a while.

godaddy cant do that. They said that the url forwarding doesnt work cause i had marquee on my page....

(stupid answer godaddy said).

It had nothing to do with the marquee. Just godaddys system doesnt allow forwarding. I think that godaddys redirecting systems have a code that isnt allowed by mtld so it doesnt forward or they restricted that service to work for .mobi.
Yes, i complained about it.......but dont know how long it will take.

circa1850, do you know of any companies that do redirect .mobis?

You are kidding me? GoDaddy will not allow redirect on mobi's??? That tells me that they may not have been quite prepared for the mobi invasion. That should be such a simple task to do.

Perhaps you should start a new thread asking that very thing. My mobi names are simply parked, not developed. But there are many on this forum that are doing the very thing.

I have only been with Moniker about a month. Closing out all my GoDaddy and reseller accounts.

If you don't get the answers that you need, let me know and I can put you in touch with a couple of folks that may be able to assist you.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy was the very one I was referring to. Slackers! :approve:

Whiz.in do allow .Mobi domain forwarding, i just checked with mine i have there. It's a USD 0.35 per year charge, but whiz is one of the cheapest registrars for .Mobi, so i guess website.in (who are the cheapest reg's) do it also.

I was afraid it might be against mobi's terms of service. It seems like it's not.

Thanks everyone.
