the WHOIS on NIC.mx is the same thing as going to WHOIS.mx, it'll take you to the exact same page which BTW never works. EVER. i've tried it so many times that i don't bother anymore

godaddy's whois does include some foreign ext's, .MX is one of them, and i think moniker's does too, to name 2 well known places

a buddy told me to go to the WHOIS on Domain Tools (i would never have considered goin there just for a WHOIS) for foreign ext's if you can't find it anywhere, he was right at least for that time, only DT doesn't diplay all the info, other sites that specialize in foreign names may also show this ( .MD is an example, got it but can't remember the site name ) just do a search for .MX for instance & it'll tell you which registrars support that, they'll have other ccTLD's in all likelihood, and hopefully a WHOIS service

it works on the NIC site. ive been using it for a couple of weeks. i think you have to click 'buscar' rather than just hit enter. if you just hit enter i think it goes to 'regresar' (back) or for some strange reason doesnt seem to work

thanks, HOMERJ ! i'll try that next time i go to nic.MX, i'm pretty sure i clicked BUSCAR and didn't just press ENTER.... but maybe i did it wrong, how hard can it be for me lol, i AM spanish, duh ! but what stroke me is that i did it 4 times i think over several days, it can't have been down that long, but that's mexico, bro ! and i must've tried the thing diff ways.... lousy site if you ask me, will ya believe you need to get an auth code to LOCK your names w/Nic.MX, that's right, my man, i kid you not, you can't lock em just like that you gotta go thru the same process as if you were UNLOCKIN & transferring out the damn domain, oh well, the reason i went there is that some names only appear avail there, not at the participating .MX registrars (and .com.MX too ) it is more exp than GD since i got the Dom Disc Club w/GD

also you can't have privacy, a real drag, esp if you managed to reg a good name, i'll probably bring em to GD after 60 days, it seems to be the only registrar that accepts transfers in for .com.MX and .MX , and i did an exhaustive search, thanks again, will let you know how it goes, i don't need to use it at all if GD's WHOIS gives me the same info, maybe even more elaborate, but i am curious as to what i did wrong...NIC.ES is also a labrynth most of the time, soooo confusing, gee, so much for the 2 premier NICs/ext's for the Spanish world, BTW you won't know what complicated is till you try to have an .ES name pushed to your acct at the same registrar, remember this !

what i just now realized though is that whois for .com.mx and .mx whois does not show any contact info. it only shows name, city, state, country, registrar, name servers.

who's the name regged w/ ? if it's a NIC.mx reg they have their own rules, it wouldn't surprise me if they did not show any email add, if it's w/gd it is supposed to show your email as i recall, so it depends on what nic.mx and/or the registrar decide to make public

also some WHOIS services are for _ _ _ _ ...try gd, domaintools, when nic.mx isn't displayin (that's always when i've tried) go to those 2, a bud recommended DT, not a big fan of their whois but they seem to support foreign exts, many do not (gd's .mx database for their whois was surprisingly thorough) a

thewatcher below also mentioned a new one

Nic.mx now responds to whois queries. Registrars are now displaying the whois records.

Try this Dynamic Whois utility: http://www.ajaxutils.com

homerj, i was wrong about the gd whois, prob got mixed up w/another, they do not show physical add, ph # or email for a .MX or .com.MX name, will ck DT + NIC.mx + also the one therunner referred us to....

but if a buyer were intent in buying a .MX from you, trust me they will find you - in fact if the name is @ GD (where was it ?...) and it were private, GD violates your privacy every single day, call 866-GODADDY and ask for info on a private name w/them, you'll be amazed, you'll get fully spelled person's + company name, ph # and email add, no questions asked...8.99 right down the drain ... and if you're patient they'll also give you street add, pet's name, etc lol.....:sigh2:
