Hi all, i've just sent one of my domains to Sedo auction for the first time ever (I wont mention what it is as it's not my intention to spam). I was just wondering if there are any methods you guys use to attract more attention to the auction or any tips etc?

Also, I feel Sedo's help isnt very clear as to what happens at the end of the auction, how is payment processed (in basic, dumb terms) and how is the domain transferred? (in my case the domain is regged @ Godaddy).

Sorry if these questions are silly but it's the first time i've ever made a sale through Sedo.

Try to contact endusers after you've started the auction...a mail with the auction link.

Right after setting up the domain auction I send out a mail to each identified potential buyer, and inform them about the auction.
It works if you send personalized mails.
Do not use free services like Gmail, Hotmail, etc...use one of your domains and set up a professional mail.
Use your name + telephone number in the signature.

Good luck.

probably should post in the Sedo section, so their rep can guide you.

however, at the end of the auction, login your sedo account, go to Transfers.

there you will find where to put the current registrar of the domain and who will be handling the transfer ( you or a technician).

i suspect you will, so just check that and enter the registrar.

after payment has been sent to sedo's escrow, they will notify you to check the Transfer section in your account via email.

There you will see that sedo has received payment and they will ask you to push the domain to 'their' (sedo's account).

After they have verified receipt of the domain, then they will create a credit note and shortly after send payment.

that's what typically happens

Good Luck!

Probably a good idea to email end users who may be interested in the domain name.

I.E. If it is a Cosmetic Surgery type domain, email cosmetic surgeons etc

Also, if you look in your "my domain listings" section of sedo you'll see a big letter T next to the name that is in auction. When you click it, it will take you to a dialog box where you can communicate with your rep. Once the name sells it can take anywhere from a couple of days to around a month sometimes to finish to transaction. I believe after 5 days or so you can cancel the sale and request to have the name relisted but sometimes the buyers pays after that time lapse, so you may want to wait a little.

When payment is received you'll get an email saying that you got payment and then sedo will request that you push the name from your GD account into theirs. They'll give you an account number and email and the directions of how to do it.
