I have to side with Tippy on this one! I'm not sure how this could be relevant, especially in the ".US" which, to me, only seem appropriate for geographical (US) areas or perhaps political entities. Just my opinion, though. Good Luck.

I think .US is appropriate for everything that would be of of interest to the American market. A large part of the appeal to me is that is has not been pigeonholed as .nets (service providers) and .orgs (non-profits) have. .US perfectly suits every business or person with a US presence which is why I think it will catch on.

Unfortunately, this specific name is not a strong one so I would have to go along with the other appraisals.

Thanks, Duke ... I hope you're right. It's a good point. But, so is the evolution toward a "global" economy, and doesn't that limit its future appeal? Good stuff. Good Luck.

The concept of "global economy" has no/very little practical appeal or significance for the vast majority of entities (online cosumers as well as small & medium sized businessess). In fact the bursting of .com bubble is one evidence that most folks were not ready to embrace such a rapid "evolution". In reality, majority of the success stories of going "online" belong to the real-life "brick and morter" businesses rather than purely "virtual" or "global" entities. When dealing/buying online most people simply prefer somone they can relate to, reach and trust.....and .US has the potential to do just that for US customers.

I hope I'm right too - but only time will decide that. Global economy means nothing to the average consumer. When you make a purchase online you are just placing a mail order in a fancier way than in the past. Only a very tiny fraction of U.S. consumers order anything from overseas. There is no need for a Global TLD to reach the market American businesses wish to reach - in fact I think it will be to their advantage to have an extension that clearly identifies them on the net as being based in the U.S. - the country consumers here want to buy from in the first place.
