Hello guys.
After my recent dealings with name.com I felt I should post here so that others can avoid the disgusting service I received.
So the story. I sold domains which had expired already (my mistake for which I take full responsibility). Thus on pushing the domains, and prior to pushing the domains they were dissapearing from mine and my buyers accounts before they could renew them. Problem!
Off an email went to name.com support. No reply. I had to phone their UK office where I was helped by a very nice man: Caleb. Kudos to him.
Names were reappearing in peoples accounts and they were thus able to renew them.
A buyer then asked me to find out the renewal price of a domain. I added it to my cart, clicked continue, and then proceeded to receive an invoice for 3 domains, 2 of which I did B]NOT[/B] own,,,
I was asked at NO point to authorize the payment. I received 1 page, on which I clicked continue assuming I would be taken to a shopping cart with a price... Nothing!
So anyway the problem with me selling already expired names was one between me and my buyers. Providing the names were visible in the respective accounts, everything could be sorted.
I then received a forwarded email from a name.com Representative (Jennifer) documenting a conversation between herself and one of my buyers where they had discussed my business.
She suggested to the recipient that I wanted him to pay me $18 for the renewal of two domains I had renewed when they were in his account not mine. I had however clearly asked name.com to refund me as it was an error with their site.
Essentially the interference of Jennifer made the situation significantly worse: as though I was begging for money from my buyer when I was not at all!
Another awful thing about name.com, shrunken to save me time. When I asked for a list of my domains, I was told I couldn't have them, and would have to compile it myself from my old invoices because they didn't keep archives. In reality the names were in the redemption status with my whois still, in their 'EXPIRED' account... they just couldn't be bothered to look it seems.
Next I received a phone call from Jennifer. I was essentially told that I was lieing about renewing domains which were not in my account (I was not), that I had mislead my buyers (is that any of her business), and that all my practices were bad.
I gave up. Decided, I would just renew the names for my buyers, save myself time and effort, take the losses for the sake of my reputation.
Off I went to renew, and what do I see. My cart containing a domain that I didn't own! A screenshot was taken, and emailed. I now had categorical proof that name.coms system was flawed, and that they had without reason called me a lier.
Probably the most disgusting service I have ever seen, and even worse support. What is more, I asked that I was not phoned again. I return home to be told 'That woman from America is calling again'.
name.com has messed me around, exaggerated a small error on my part, harassed me, cost me a lot of money, ripped me off... the list goes on.
With the likes of Godaddy on the web, I am surprised to say this myself, but name.com are the WORST registrar I have ever seen, and I am getting everything out of there asap.
Do the same if you value your domains.
