Now this one is a newbie's gamble :)

Overture says the term "name no stealing" (whatever that means :) ) was searched 171.000 times in december.

And for a change this time it's a .com

Kinda longish and not memorable (except for search engines).

I am very curious what you guys have to say about this one.

By the way, talking of guys, are they any ladies on this forum, anybody ever wondered why seemingly mostly males are crazy enough to still play the domain game? :)

Anyway, as always thank you for your appraisals. I learn from each and every one of them

Um, well, the problem here is that Overture sorts the terms searched by alphabetizing them and turning plurals into singular form.

The search term was probably something like "no stealing names" -- who knows. But it's extremely unlikely that your .com name has anything to do with what they were really searching for.

Thanks for your comment.

To find out why people are searching for it, I can simply put a form on the page and have a few generous ones type in some answers for me. After that I can optimize the keywords and go from there. Sounds like a plan?

This is obviously a fabrication.
Someone must have written a script to automatically search for "name no stealing" in Overture, artificially inflating the count.
I mean think about how ridiculous it is! According to the results more people searched for "name no stealing", than for "domain names", "domains", and "domain registration".

COUNTS:
name no stealing --- 170,803
domain name(s) --- 116,744
domain(s) --- 66,471
domain registration --- 57,918

YEAH RIGHT!

# of real searches for "name no stealing": 0
Value of namenostealing.com: $0

written a script to push a certain search-term?` Why, what for?

If he at least had regged the domain first and then pushed the searches. He could have resold to some poor soul, bastard that he is :)

Sorry, I am usually very eager to believe in all kinds of mischief if programmers are bored (I am a programmer myself :) ), but that sounds a bit far fetched.

My assumption is that the traffic is real and people are actually looking for something with that phrase.

Sorry, but no one is actually searching for "name no stealing"

Use common sense.

To make SuggestionTool even more confusing is they do not alphabetize all searches, only some of them. Also, sometimes they will arrange the words in a very odd order with the true 3rd or 4th word being 1st or 2nd or vice versa. To make things even more confusing they sometimes will actually use plurals but usually not.

To make ST even more tricky is they will sometimes add a word or two to the results, words you never asked for. Much of this stuff is recent as in the past it was easier. I think they do this to get more results for their advertisers searching for words to bid on.
