Like to hear what others think of this rule a MOD on NP says is against paypal rules and forum rules.

Since when is it against the rules to use masspay? Its the only payment option I accept for all my domains, this protects you from payment reversal.

strange. i got this on namepros some time ago (when asked to cover paypal fees by buyer):

As it is against the Terms of Service by paypal, we can't allow members to ask to cover paypal fees.
It is however allowed to ask for a personal payment or masspay.

It is against the Terms of Service by PayPal because they reside in the state of California. California does not permit the passing along these fees or a percent markup to cover the merchants fees. Most people on the forums DO charge ADDED FEES.

So, if someone really pisses you off, report them to PayPal and get their account suspended. :)eek:)

The issue here is if you don't like paying the added fees on the forum, then don't. Likewise, the seller may refuse to sell if you don't pay the added fees. Typically, paypal will charge to the seller about 2.8% of the total. Most ask for a 4% markup which will cover those fees taken out.

Are you sure PayPal even does masspay anymore? I tried to masspay a few mos ago and it was not an option snd removed from my account. PayPal said it had something to do with the new Advantage Account upgrades which do not have masspay enabled. I also believe mass pay was never designed for indiviuual transactions but only mass transactions as the name implies.

I started to request masspay to avoid payment reversal. Otherwise I'm not trying to save money on fees. It's been a while since I used masspay to pay for a domain name, not sure if its disabled now.

Amendment to the PayPal User Agreement
Effective Date: Jan 24, 2012

Fee cap for Users who send Mass Payments. If you send Mass Payments, your fees are set out in Section 8 (Fees). Currently, your Mass Payment fees are 2% of each recipient’s payment amount up to a maximum of $1.00 USD per recipient, or the foreign currency equivalent of $1.00 USD as set out in Section 8. After the effective date listed above, if you send Mass Payments within the U.S., your fees will remain the same. However, if you send Mass Payments outside the U.S., your fees will be 2% of each recipient’s payment amount up to a maximum of $20.00 USD per recipient, or the foreign currency equivalent of $20.00 USD as set out below.

(Translation: mass payments within the U.S. will still cost no more than $1 per recipient; outside the U.S., they will be 2%, with a maximum of $20 per recipient.)
