I have won a number of nice domains with Pool over the past 18 months.
Fortunately, I have transferred most of them out of Pool's registrars.
Many of them were in my Namescout acct. And, I could manage them at
the Namescout site.
For the past week, I have been trying to transfer out of there a number of the remaining domains.
They don't answer any of my request for authorization codes.
I sent them again two days later. And, nothing.
Plus, I have unlocked the .com's and .net's and initiated transfers to my primary registrar.
They bounce back because they are still locked.
I have instructed Namescout to unlock them internally.
In the past, this has worked.
Now, they just send this standard response.
"Thank you for contacting customer service. We managed the domain names
in question on behalf of your registrar. Your registrar has since taken over management of the domains. You must contact your registrar with any issues regarding the domain and to obtain the login information for their system. You can find out who your registrar is by doing a WHOIS search on your domain."
But, the names still show in my Namescout account.
Unfortunately, none of these ghost registrars have working sites.
I have sent a couple emails to the ghost registrars. But, no response as of this morning.
Plus, I renewed a couple at Namescout at a cost of $ 25. Namescout accepted
the payments and sent me confirmations. And, they have charged my credit card.
(I couldn't get them out of there before the approaching expiration date.
And, the domains are worth a lot more than $ 25. So, I didn't want to take
a chance.)
Apparently, these are also at ghost registrars. And, they don't show the renewal.
Namescout doesn't answer me about this except by sending the above
form response.
So, you really want to do business with a registrar (Pool/Namescout) that
1. Doesn't answer your emails except with a disclaimer response.
2. Accepts renewal payments but does not apply it to the domain.
3. Directly and indirectly blocks your transfers out.
