Buy into an auction at Namewinner - win and you win - lose and you lose your $50 fee.
Nice extra moneyspinner for Namewinner!

Please Note: Joining an extended auction requires a non-refundable $50.00 fee. The fee will be assessed as soon as you click the "I Agree" button, using your credit card on file. If you do not wish to join the auction, click the "Cancel" button.
If at the end of the auction you are the highest bidder for this domain, the $50.00 fee will count towards your payment. If you do not win the domain, your fee will not be refunded.

I don't know - it is to me and I can't find another thread in a very quick search so maybe it is to others too.

That post doesn't mention that you lose the $50 if you don't win the name.

Yes Roger that is a real bad move on their part. Card charged at once for $50 whether you win the auction or not. That has been in place for at least the last few weeks. Bet that slows down many a bid on domains there? It sure put halt to many a bid from us. Anything for a buck, or $50 I guess? Steve

Could keep the bidding frenzy down, on a postitive note.

Well ... to be frank, I don't think $50 will keep the crazy from bidding. Actually, it will fuel more craze. By allowing late-comers to buy their way in, Namewinner makes sure that the post-drop (their so-called "extended auction") bidding will not be quiet, unlike some private auctions at eNom Club Drop.
