Okay heres the problem. I bought a domain today which was registered at ENOM. I wanted to have it transferred to godaddy.

So I make the payment and then pay godaddy to do the transfer. I goto put the codes and EPP number in and it says the domain is not transferable and that it may be locked.

I contacted the seller and it was locked so he said he unlocked it. So I try it again and get some other crazy errors, then it goes into the accept at current registrar so I am thinking great it worked.

Then I call to finish up some renewals via godaddy and the agent asked if I had resolved my problems with the new domain. He is saying that the domain is still locked and may be put on a 90 day hold.

I have never had this problem and not sure what to do or who to talk to. Why would the domain be put on a 90 day hold?

Any suggestions? I think the seller is as lost as I am.

it always best if possible, to get an account at the same registrar and have the name pushed to your account first, then initiate the transfer after your info shows in whois.

this way you don't have to go back and forth with previous owner and you get possession immediately.

Well i contacted enom to find out what the issue is. They said that the domain is unlocked but its still on transfer prohibitied that they need the owner to contact them because they cant see what the issue is without his permission to access the account. I asked if he can accept a phone call so we can get this sorted out. So just waiting for him to answer me.

I am going to have him switch the domain to my enom account if he can.

I have a reseller account - I am not that rich to own Enom.

That is not what I heard.
:)

I suspect that Enom has a procedure in place to automatically lockdown the domain
when a particular "locked" domain gets a number of transfer request within a short period of time.

I agree with the others that you should always push a domain into your enom acct
you recently purchased and then transfer it to another registrar.

The whole thing could be resolved within seconds if you get cooperation from the seller.

Keep us posted.

What happened about that..was it a genuine glitch or did those guys give you any excuses for the error..you'l also need to be careful once you are done transferring your domain/s to go daddy..those guys had some strange domain lock down if whois details are changed 30-60 days before the expiry of the domain..read about this somehwere

Well they didnt really give me a reason for the transfer prohibited but it was fixed when the domain got pushed to my account. So enom says? Hopefully whatever godaddys issues are will be resolved today. Im trying to get ahold of someone to find out about this 90 day hold thing..

Right now it shows in the transfer status

Thanks to those who helped me. Its appreciated.

I posted a similar situation not more than perhaps 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago.

I hate eNom.

They were no help at all when I called. Waited for nearly a month and a half before the name finally got into my account.

Can you tell the difference between a "domain registrant transfer" and a "domain registrar transfer"?

If you try and do both simultaneously, sooner or later you will strike trouble

Consider your self lucky if you do both types of transfers at the same time and don't lose the name and your money
