OK I'm a newbie but I've worked myself really ragged for the last few days to come up with some names. Man 'like I nearly went blind I did so many searches. :)

Here is what I have registered:

stockwolf.com

interestbroker.com

airgem.com

metalstocks.com

growthsecurities.com

What do you think? I think they are decent, but I need reassurance because I'm a newbie.

Appraisal?

you'd be better off checking expired name lists, you find some goodies there once in a while

i like your names! They are original, memorable, and you get a pretty good idea what the sites are about.
It's hard to put a $ price on names like that, but definitely not $0!
You just need to find the right buyer, that's what this is all about!
Good luck!

Hi,

Good advice to check the drop lists :)

You wont find any real high value Domains, but there are a few $50 plus ones hidden in there.

I myself wouldnt have regged these names, I stick to names which can easily be developed for a quick profit.

Really that bad?

growthsecurities.com is long but a common investment term (eg. Templeton Growth Securities fund); the counterbalance to incomesecurities.com which is a website. Some fund might want it someday.

stockwolf: OK it just sounded cool; I took a chance

airgem: I was thinking maybe airfare something easy to remember; maybe you are right but maybe it has a bit of marketability for that purpose

interestbroker: like for a mortgage broker I thought this would be cool; maybe a bond broker also.

metalstocks.com: as in precious metal stocks especially, which are really watched; at least a precious metal trader might like it someday

I mean these are all .com's...

really that bad?

You guys are scaring me.

I guess I'd better hit the snapback or something.......

But I see TONS of serious crap registered all the time.

I mean these names are that bad?

These names are good, thye just aren't the obvious mainline value names that everyone here can easily decipher.

Don't waste too much time on drop lists, as the essential thing to remember there is that some speculator already had owned those names and let them drop because they weren;t good enough for him. That means that the vast majority of them are total junk.

Thank you!

But can anyone give me an appraisal above $0?

Welcome to DNforum!

If you did some research before registering these names, then
you showed effort and determination, before making a resolve.

Therefore the fruits of those efforts will eventually be rewarded.

StockWolf.com...it's a good creative name. Develope software that maintains a database on stock variations.

MetalStocks.com...This could be a good area to develope for gold
and precious metals trading.

InterestBroker.com....The is a viable market for those looking to invest their interest from dividends and other portfolios.

GrowthSecurities.com...Excellent name! develope a site with listing of top securities firms and products, set up with a company for affiliation. Good traffic potential,if economy heats up.

AirGem.com.....$0

Good Luck.

Thank you for your reply and advice, biggedon.

Unfortunately I am getting worried again, because I don't currently have the time or expertise to develop any of these sites.

Maybe in the deep future.

But I was hoping for a turnaround. Maybe not now; maybe a buy & hold thing.

What do you think?

If you got cash to invest, pay someone to develope for you. It would be worth it in the end.

I understand what you are saying, but right now I don't have time or money to invest, and even if all goes well, I don't think I'll ever have much time to spend on it myself.

Possibly I could pay someone flat-out but maybe not for a while.

Anyway your advice is sound; I will think about it.

A lot of the big expensive domain names are junk to look at, only big because of heavy advertising and development, ie. the branding.

I will think about it.

Too bad there's no way to licence a domain name or something where I can just collect money. :)

I could give you a parking page for at least GrowthSecurities.com , the better of the bunch I believe.

You could then track traffic and put up an affiliated site linking to a Financial Investment Company.

Thanks, Tippy, but I wouldn't want to do it if there's nothing in it for you.

I know the basics of webmastering; more and more it's looking like I'll have to go all the way, ie. with CGI, PHP or whatever, and really master it.

I guess I have time to think about it, even if I don't have time right now.

Thanks for all of your advice!
